Hello Everyone, The applications for June 2020 at Columbia University has now opened. I haven't seen any new threads for this year so I wanted to start one. I am in the process of applying and half way done! References already sent their recommendations!! and an upside to this year is that Columbia University is no longer requiring the GRE. SO I am pretty happy about that!!
Good Luck!

But yay for tentative acceptance?
Did you have your interview yet? Or is it tomorrow? Best of luck!! You got this!

Oh great...here goes another week of getting anxious/freaking out. This is like early decision application back in college all over again. lol

I had it earlier today, over Zoom. It was very chill and comfortable, but it was my first nursing school interview this season so I was a little nervous. I was supposed to do a writing assessment online as well, but they waived it. I'm hoping it's because it would've been too difficult to coordinate between NYC and LA (where I am currently), and not because they decided not to admit me.
The woman I spoke to, Dr. Smaldone, said the MDE/PhD is a very small class; they only take 5-10 students each year. She said for the MDE/DNP program, they take upwards of 40 students. We will definitely know end of next week or early February.
For anyone who applied for a dual degree, you will know if you got into both programs at the same time. Good luck everyone!
After looking through Columbia's FAQs, I came across the fact that students are only awarded a Master of Science degree after graduating from the MDE & that New York State does not offer MSN degrees. Would this affect us in any way as registered nurses since we will not have a BSN or an MSN?
1) I don’t think it would affect anyone of us as a register nurse. 2) I think the paragraph below from their website would help clarify your concern. Your degree will be MS (master of science in nursing). However they will not write MSN on your diploma.
“The fifteen-month program prepares students to enter the nursing profession as masters-credentialed registered nurses better prepared to meet the demands of an evolving health care system. At the end of the program, graduates receive a Master of Science degree in Nursing (MS) and sit for the nationwide test for the licensing of nurses—the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX).”

found this post on this site. From what I read i in the comments, MS in nursing is just as acceptable and, sometimes, even considered a higher degree.
