Dilemma: Private Hospital or Goverment Hospital?

Published

I've been thinking about this for the longest time and still I haven't decided on where to work for: Private Hospitals or Government Hospitals. Please do (do, dO, DO) help! What are the pros and cons of working for each type of hospital? And which one would YOU work for? Thanks a lot - it would be a great for us newbies.

God bless :)

*Chuckle* Yeah..that is based on experience. I was very idealistic once (when i first started out)...can't please everyone. Ah...the "diversity" in the workplace. Just prepare for the worst but hope for the best (and that applies to wherever you choose to work). Don't be antisocial or a supper "suck up" (the two extremes)! Goood luck.

The medical city is already a JCIA accredited last september of the previous year...and they are proudly announcing it through tons of advertisements on our local newspapers.Their website might not have been updated about it. ;)

I don't know about the hospital's accreditation but I personally know two friends (both doesn't know each other) who made a comment that their salary is not paid on time by Medical City.

What are examples of hospitals here in the Philippines that have international certification/recognition?

pls. answer.. ^_^ thanks

what are examples of those hospitals?

Hi, stsinner. From your profile i see that you are all the way in Tacloban. That is pretty far from the hospitals that have been mentioned here on this thread. You have plans of moving to Manila? Where you will be staying (here in the future if that is what you want to do first) will help you narrow down your selection of hospitals. Assuming you have read the posts here, you can see the choices before you: private, with or w/o accreditation, government,... while some opt not to work here at all w/immediate plans of leaving for another country. What may be best for one may not be a good option for you so do some Googling on the internet and searching on this site so you can form your own plan. If you come out empty-handed for answers, you can always ask.

oh well..that's already an internal part of the facility and i can't make any comment on that..:nono: If they have problems regarding their salaries i think it is best to advise them to go directly in the HRD and tell their queries. ;)

What's new:rolleyes: ? No institution is perfect and you just have to find the right fit. Best you can do before applying is to do a thorough research on the place you desire to work and when it's time for the interview, ask questions. As long you are part of an organizational structure... hierarchy involved, and add more people to the mix, you will always encounter conflicts and politics about the same of the same. Still, even if you think you have found your "dream" job, there will always be a couple of imperfections. Best to raise your concerns to the appropriate people, departments (just don't expect miracles) and adjust your expectations. Good luck to you all and happy job hunting:)

I think DOLE and/or NLRC can help your friends. Be sure not to forget the proofs to support your claim and seek help from a lawyer to guide you.

hiya! i agree with you purplecotton - before you commit to anything, know everything about it, and really think hard if you can commit to it. it's not just being a nurse - it's about who you are and how you deal with anything. good luck guys! btw, i haven't heard from any hospitals i have passed my resume to :o, but i'll be attending an IVT training at PHC this may. i hope this helps in landing a job! thanks guys! good luck to everyone.

I used to work at Stluke's now im with Phil Heart. Both have different programs for their staff. Resources at stluke's are no question plus the recognition. At PHc they make sure that a nurse doesnt get stuck at being a ward nurse..he'll get to ICUs after a year or so plus the exams every now & then.

focus on what specialization to take and choose the institution where u think can offer that to u.

the pay is always better with govt hosp..as in PHC's case

Asian Hospital and Medical Center is licensed by the Philippine Department of Health (DOH) and accredited by the Philippine Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (Philhealth).
