I am seeking support and or advice. I am just so worn out with my new job. I left an agency that was a bit corrupt and fruadulent with claims to go to one that has NO idea *** is going on.
I can't seem to go a day without some major screw up. My list this week alone and my week starts on Sun...being assigned to see patients over the weekend who already died, calling my manager to alert them.. never getting a call back, ( she claims our phone list is incorrect.. last time I checked all cells have caller id... and my phone is unlocked ) getting called by the secretary to call in refills on a patient that isn't mine. Having patients reassigned every week, rotating nurses.
I have NO access to our office report line. Meaning I have no idea what's going on. I have reported this since I started a month ago. They still have not given me my pass code. I have been verbally reprimanded on paperwork that I have never been given oreitnation too. I spent 4 hours with a nurse out in the field and sent out on m own "because you are an experienced nurse".
Our admissions nurses are given 3 patients to case manage and they took one of my patients away for this? This nurse lives 25 miles away, and I lived 4 miles away.
Today I asked our office manager if my payroll I entered in our computer from home was accepted? It seemed to be on my end. She said.. on who are you? Oh no.. it' hasn't. ****
DId I just make the biggest mistake ever? I am so concerned... and I am worried that something is going to go wrong and I will be tossed under the bus llke they have tried to do so many times.
THe only perks? I have excellent pay, great benefits and a new administrator that is the ONLY one with her head on straight.

I keep saying this... There are a lot of home health and hospice that are really a huge mess. I wish they could be followed by regulators more closely. Seems just anyone can start one up. Nobody, I mean nobody at some of these places knows anything about medicine. It can be so scary. I feel for ya. I think all you can do is find out who the big names are in your area. Who do the Oncs send patients to? Who is respected.
I don't work at Vitas, but I work at it biggest nation wide competitor! SO size mean NOTHING sista.

I almost feel like I may just get let go at this point. I have been spoeken to by my acting manager more than I have been in the last 5 years put together...
I would love to have a heart to heart with her,but the open door policy doesn't seem to be there.

Excellent pay, great benefits, and an administrator with her head on straight? I would stick around until I found another employer.
Good news. Our staff meeting I missed yesterday as I do not have an access code to our company voicemail and this is not my responsibility. I have been asking for weeks.. lol
Yesteray I did't go to our last minute mandatory meeting. I got a chat from our administrator. Where were you? I told her. I have been asking nursing manager #1 for over 3 weeks to fix this. I have been given a pager that doesnt' work. I have no access to any communications.
Click of the heels x3 fixed. I guess it take thebig gun around there to get middle management un impacted.

hhhmmm...looks like leslie was prophetic
The big gun administrator is NOT happy with the lack of response, accountability with the middle management. She didn't say a word, but she and I did have a quick heart to heart.
#1 I have NO clincial support. My manager who I report to is unexperienced in hospice. Has NO clue what is left, right and worst? Has no idea thing specific to our agency.
#2 Our clerical support staff is unavailable. I couldn't get answers regarding an important situation on a patient's labs. I have had to resort to documenting in the patients chart to cover myself. ie spoke to nancy secretary, Mary out of the office, unable to obtain recent lab results. Nancy wouldn't help find labs.. so now.. it's part of the pateint's records. Big gun not happy.. ( lab we used was closed at the time )
#3 Constant negative reinforcement. I told her.. I have NOT been verbally repreminded as much int he last 5 years as I have in the last month. I amnot happy. I feel like I am a remedial RN who needs constant reminders.. Ie. make sure and check your new voicemail before you start work every am.
Ready for this? Big gun manager told me.. middle management loves you... they are amazed with your documentation skills, and feel you are better on many levels then our own seasoned staff. I had to ask big gun... are you sure you are talking to the same nurse? I don't get the impression, and in fact. it's the opposite.. and it's constant.
Big gun..not happy.. hope she cleans house.
Wel.. I did it. My big boss asked me to come in and speak to her. I did. What we shared was shocking.
She told me that my middle management is thrilled with me and can't believe how good my paperwork is, my flexibility and my experience.
I told her " I'd never know by the feedback I have gotten". "It's all bad!" " I was told I am having a rough start.. been spoken to about complaints that should of never made it to me"
She concurred that what I have been told is the poler oppoosite of what I have been given. I am still on gaurd, but I told my big boss, the feedback I have been given has caused me so much stress.. me a secure seasoned hospice nurse is on edge.
She was not impressed and looked as though she was going to deal with my concerns.. freaking heck. took enough time to get around to me.
FYI>> managers out there. CONSTANT NEGATIVE FEEDBACK IS A SURE FIRE WAY TO HAVE YOUR STAFF LEAVE OR BE LOOKING FOR OTHER OPPORTUNITIES.. YOU CATCH MORE FLIES WITH HONEY... ALERT ALERT ALERT!
