Did I FAIL??

Published

I took the NCLEX-RN almost three weeks ago on Tuesday, June 28, in California. I have yet to see my name on California's BRN, so I've been doing the PVT every single day since my test date. I'm continuing to get the good pop-up. I've called California's BRN, and they informed me that they have my transcript, but it needs to be keyed in. Only God knows how long that will take. I'm driving myself mad. I'm constantly checking the BRN, as well as doing the PVT at least 20 times a day.

Today, I'm feeling more than disheartened because I received a leaflet from Life Savers Nursing Review Center. The leaflet claims that this program can help me pass my boards. It also includes class locations and dates, a registration form, and testimonials from students who have taken it in the past and have subsequently passed their boards.

I can't stop crying. Does this mean that I failed my boards??? Were my results and information released to this company?? Is that why they sent me this leaflet??? Oh, my goodness, this is really stressing me out to the point where I can't think straight.

Has this happened to anyone before??

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Depressed and beyond stressed,

You are making the usual CA delay coupled by the slow rate of movement by your school into a catastrophe. Stop making yourself sick and do something constructive, like organizing your job hunt.

i had a friend who got the good pop up with PVT trick and it has been 5 days since she took her boards, she called and they said her transcript was not in the system. 3-4 days later, her name was on the ca brn. I think you most likely pass. I, myself got the good pop up and pass.

I was actually blind-sighted by this Lifesavers Nursing Review leaflet, which could have easily been interpreted by someone such as myself as not passing her boards, especially because I'm still waiting on my official results, and this program claims that it can help test takers pass their boards. I was under the impression that my results were released to this company, which I thought was the reason why this company sent me this leaflet in the first place. Apparently, it's pure coincidence and nothing to worry about. This company does not have access to my results. I actually found an older thread of another member with the exact same concern as mine. Here's Suzanne4's explanation:

"CA cannot give your results to anyone, period. They have not given your results to any of these companies, but they do sell lists of those that have registered for licensure with them. I even get this type of mailer when I get a license in a new state.

I think that it is inappropriate that these companies are permitted to function like this and contact people before they even get their results. Not a nice thing to do, and you can report them to the Better Business Bureau and see if others have complained about their tactics. You can also contact the BRN about this. These same companies do it to all, even if you grew up in the US, they still send them.

As a foreign grad, if you did not give them a SSN# when you registered for the exam, then you wait about 2 1/2 weeks for them to send your results to you via snail mail and then wait for the delivery time as well. Remember that the BRN cannot submit any results to any other BON, or even CGFNS, etc., without your written documentation to do so. That means that they cannot give your results to anyone else like this either."

I think I just might do as Suzanne4 suggested and file a complaint. Talk about stress inducing. So not cool.

This company probably mailed you the pamphlet before you even took your exam. They probably mail them out to lots of test takers who are taking the NCLEX for the 1st time, not just those who failed. Even the BON doesn't know when you scheduled your exam until they get the results.

Obviously receiving this pamphlet offended you because it scared you into thinking you failed, and that's why you are so upset over it. But there may have been some fine print on your application that authorized the BON to release your address to these kinds of companies. Or the company might not have gotten your name from the BON. Did you ever buy an NCLEX review book? Sign up online to an NCLEX website? Maybe they got your name through Pearson VUE. The company was well within it's rights to send you the pamphlet, so I don't think a complaint is going to get you anywhere.

I do think you are making this a bigger deal than it has to be. Everyone gets worried about their NCLEX results and freaks out over the tiniest possibility that they failed. The simple fact is that it takes time to get your results and they can be held up for several reasons.

I agree with everyone else. I think you are making a bigger deal that it has it to be. You are the only person stressing yourself out more here. California takes a long time to post results compared to other states.

There are people who took it from my class before you and still haven't gotten their results yet. According to BRN, results take 2-4 weeks to arrive. I suggest you give them a call and ask for your evaluator's direct # so you know what needs to be done in order for them to release your results.

Don't worry about the leaflet. I found I had passed my boards on 7/14. I received that same leaflet a couple days ago. Just advertisement I suppose! I just threw it away!

I just recieved the same leaflet in the mail today 2/16/13. I tested on 1/31/13 and I have still not gotten my results, this piece of mail made me very nervous also, which is how I came accross this discussion board. My friend who took her test on the same day recieved her results one week later. Waiting for your NCLEX results is so stressful, why cant CA release online results? The worry is pretty bad but I am hoping they will come any day...

I can't imagine having to wait that long! Thank God my state does the online quick results...it was hard enough for me to wait 48 hours, let alone 2-4 weeks! :/
