Did anyone else walk out of NCLEX thinking

that it wasn't that bad? I mean, I was dazed, but I don't recall thinking "Wow! That was harder than any test I've ever had." I recall thinking that it was weird and BS. (By BS, I mean "Duh!" type stuff that I couldn't believe they'd even ask.)

My exam was 75 questions. I took about an hour and 20 minutes. When I left, I didn't feel like throwing up. I was a bit dazed and unnerved, but at that point, I felt that I'd done all I could do and I'd just have to wait and see how it was. (I did feel like throwing up before the test though.)

I just don't think it was "hard".

i guess we differ. it was hardest test i ever took. it is not the material that is hard persay but how the question are written. i notice when i took my eri and nclex those question just are written a funny away. saunders question arent written this way.

I was in a state of shock after NCLEX. Couldn't believe the computer shut off after 75 questions and think I just stared at the screen for at least 10 minutes. I was certain I failed because the questions were so strange/hard/stupid..., without any possible resource to check for the correct answer. Others told me that when the questions are that way, the computer decided early on that you passed and throws you questions in order to prevent you from being able to memorize and tell others. Don't know if it's true or not, just that I passed without knowing how. I'm sure you did OK and I'd like to congratulate you on being an RN.

Okay dansamy, give up the scoop. What did you do to get prepared for the NCLEX? Because I don't know anyone that came out of the testing center thinking that it wasn't difficult. What is your secret? I'm taking the exam in April and I can use all the advise I can get.

I agree with comments above that the material on nclex is not hard. Rather, answer choices require critical thinking at its best in order to get you through each question. Keep in mind that testable subjects are things that you reviewed in Kaplan coursebook or Saunders (if you used it as a study resource). The trick is nclex questions are straight , short and to the point. Answers are also straight forward and short. What got me through this test is constantly telling myself that safety comes first, no matter what and do no harm to my patient. By having this mindset, I was able to eliminate most of the answers that indicated unsafeness, thus bringing me to 2 possible answers: at this point, ABC (if applicable) is your best bet.

You are soo right! That's exactly what I felt. :uhoh21: Come to think of it, we probably think it's difficult because almost every question requires us to think critically, putting our already stressed out brains to more intense work, making the exam harder than it is.

I think differently. I always have. I was the only one in Fundamentals who didn't have to learn to "think like a nurse". Logic problems, brainteasers, etc are usually pretty easy for me.

And loricatus, I already posted that I passed.
