Did anyone apply for the 2017 Fall Nursing Program at Malcolm X?

Trying to find out if anyone applied for the Nursing program at Malcolm X? What should I expect after applying?

Hey all! word of advise... DO NOT COUNT ON ANY DEADLINE TO EXPECT NOTICE IF YOU'VE BEEN ACCEPTED OR NOT! I am currently on my second semester and let me tell you, I gave up on trusting any date they have given. There is ALWAYS a reason to delay EVERYTHING! We were not able to register for classes A WEEK before they officially started, which left many of us scrambling to make arrangements with our personal life. Orientation was completely useless and a waste of time. However, knowing who to go to for help was a plus. Even if you went to Truman or any city college to complete your prereqs, get those transcripts over to Malcolm as soon as you can. Physically hand in your High School Diploma or GED. MAKE COPIES OF EVERYTHING and keep them handy, they will always loose things! I cant tell you how many of us had to turn in stuff that had already been given. Once you got accepted, make that doctors appointment, I believe the drug test needs to be within 30 days of starting classes but don't quote me. I did mine as soon as orientation was done and we began classes 3 weeks later. Have your CNA certification (or completion of class), valid CPR card, TEAS score, Drug test, physical, and diploma & transcripts ready, they will ask for these at some point. I am sure im missing something, but I dont have my folder with me to tell you exactly what is required. Overall, dont count on those deadlines to find out if you've been accepted or not... Chances are, you probably wont hear back till late June/July. Set yourself up for disappointments now! trust me with that. Good luck everyone! I am always here to help and hope to see you all next semester!

If accepted, do nursing 101 have clinical days as well? Trying to plan ahead. I'm currently working full time and I need to start planning just in case I have to change my schedule or look for work elsewhere.

Yes. The classes are up now if you want to take a look at what's available for you. Most clinical sites are not locked in yet, but at least you'll know what to expect.

So it's coming closer ladies, has anyone gotten anything yet at all? Any acceptance emails yet? I'm an LPN and applied for the bridge LPN to RN program. But I'm a little nervous, I'm currently finishing up my Micro 233 class, and when I applied for the bridge program I got a response stating that my application would be on hold due to me taking this class, I thought this class was a co-req no a pre-req? Anywho...I'm a little nervous that my application won't be taken in consideration, thinking on going tomorrow to Malcolm and speaking to an advisor to see what they say. Does anyone have this issue or similar?

I'm also a LPN but I applied for the regular RN program because they told me I wouldn't be accepted if I wasn't finished with Micro 233. I'm in Micro right now. I got an email a few weeks ago however that stated I needed to make a payment because I had a past due balance but the email's subject said something about the Bridge program. I didn't apply to that. At the bottom of the application, I remember seeing the question: Are you currently a LPN or something of that nature so I clicked yes because I am but I didn't fill out the rest of the info about the two classes that had to be completed prior to the bridge program application. I plan to call today to find out my status. I hope someone can help!

Hi @maisyLPN I would think that because your an LPN already that's why they put you on the bridge. I had send an email to Sylvia from the nursing department and she stated that micro was not needed to apply for the program and that it would be ok to apply. Did your advisor tell you that you wouldn't get accepted because of that micro class? I'm so confused, I'm going to try to go tomorrow and see what they say at Malcolm.

Sylvia was the one to tell me that I had to have the class completed, plus the grade has to be on my transcript to be considered for the LPN-RN program. So I just emailed her to ask if anything has changed since the deadline was extended.

I got my response!! I was accepted into the LPN to RN bridge program!!!! :) Did anyone else get their response?? It states it's conditional and only if I pass the Summer bridge course. But either way I'm happy I got in! :) Good luck to all you out there!

I just got done reading the 2016 thread and I'm a bit nervous about the possible disorganization at this school. I hope this year's registration runs a bit smoother...

I hope so too. I'm a little confused though, I got my acceptance letter and send my response accepting my spot but got no email in return, are we supposed to get something? The letter also states that we have to self enroll into the bridge course, I tried and it gives me an error. Are we supposed to go to Malcolm and sign up there? Does anyone know?

Hi for anyone that is having the same issue as me, I called the Nursing Dept. at Malcolm and they are telling me that they are trying to fix this problem w/the error message we get when trying to sign up for the bridge summer course. Just and FYI, she said to keep checking back to your ccc account and checking if you can sign up for the class. So for those of you who will be going to the bridge course see you all there! I can't wait!

Hi @maisyLPN did you get a response yet? It turns out that whatever you see on CCC in regards to an afternoon bridge class is not true. There is only morning classes for the bridge course, no afternoon classes are available. I was able to enroll to the morning class, just wanted to check if you had.

Congratulations to earroyo56!

Has anyone else gotten an acceptance letter or e-mail yet? And if so, was it an e-mail or a paper letter? I'm nervous that my spam filter is going to hide the e-mail if or when it comes.
