Trying to find out if anyone applied for the Nursing program at Malcolm X? What should I expect after applying?

Hi! Can any nurinsg students from 2017 tell me how your year went? Is it still super disorganized coming into 2018? I"m applying for Fall 2018. I should hopefully be hearing back soon for a background check. i"m already worried about those ATI exams at the end of each class. Hope everyone is enjoying nursing school the best they can!

N102 is near end, how is everyone doing thus far? I'm nervous about the ATI

Sorry for the late reply! Well, as you've probably found out if you applied and got accepted, it is as disorganized as ever. There have been several times my schedule has shown I'd have Professor "TBA" until just a day or two before the first day of the class.


And yes those ATI exams are scary - I have several former colleagues who passed their classes but then didn't pass the ATI exam on even the second attempt. I feel so bad for them!!! But honestly, if you know the material, the ATI exams aren't that bad. While you need to score an 80% or higher to pass the normal exams during the semester, for the ATI end of semester one, a score of around 67% is considered passing (whatever the national mean is that year is a passing score and it's usually around a 67%). I've been getting mostly B's in the program (I'm getting an A right now in Intermediate Med Surg), and I've been scoring in the mid to upper eighties on the ATI end of semester exams.

Again, sorry for the late reply. I had to repeat N102 - missed passing by one percentage point! But the second time I came close to getting an A and I am getting an A now in N210 (got a B in N211). I have Professor Burt for 210 and she's GREAT.

Are you about to graduate? I cannot believe how fast the time flies in this program!!!
