Hello,
I was wondering if anyone here applied so that we could wait it out together. Since the deadline was on 2/1 there is nothing else to do but wait...and it is already killing me!
Hi Hope, thanks for letting me know about the lifespan pysch. Nice to know that my summer isn't gonna be as awful as i thought it would be.
I know how you feel. By now, they should have selected their strong/potential candidates. I just hope they would be considerable enough to let me know if I am not one of those students instead of leaving me hanging. I guess they are sending all the acceptance/rejection letters at once.
I received a call last Friday AM to interview for tomorrow. I applied for the fall class. However, I already confirmed my attendance at UCLA for fall so I'm no longer considering CSUN. Good luck to the rest of you. I agree with all of you, the process has been quite disorganized and they could never tell me if I had all of my paperwork together. Friday was the first time I have heard anything since February 1, when I turned the app in.
Oh, I wanted to add that I called the office and inquired about the interview/selection process for CSUN. Apparently the gal that answered Iris? said a lot of folks are making up information regarding the selection process. She said they have already selected the summer 08 class of 18 and will be wrapping up selection of the fall class '08 of 18 students in the next few weeks. This Friday is supposedly the last set of interviews for fall class. Interviews are 10 min long and with three professors and the program director. Also, there were 300 applicants for both classes (competition was fierce) and they only selected a group of the 300 applicants to interview them (not everyone that applied/completed their app). Hope this information is helpful!

Thank you BerryGood for the information. Unfortunately, that is very bad news for me. I have not received any phone calls. Although I haven't received a rejection letter yet if this friday is the last set of interviews then I know that I didn't make it. That makes it 0 for 4.
The only hope I have left is the ME-MSN program at CSU Fullerton which I will hear by the end of the week. If I don't make it in then I am completely finished. I really am too old to wait around another year and the competition is only getting stiffer each year. I can't rot on a community college waiting list for 2-3 years either.
This reminds me so much of my friends as an undergrad many years ago who were applying to medical school. From what I have seen on the posts to this forum it seems that those who were accepted were accepted by most of the programs they applied to while the rest were rejected by all of theirs.
Are you sure that they were only selecting 18 each for summer and fall? Out of 300 applicants those are almost impossible odds. You would have better luck applying to medical school!
Kathliz... if things don't work out for the fall, you may want to consider Mt. St. Mary's ADN program and the program at LA County College of Nursing. Both accept for the spring, and neither are lottery-based. LA County accepts based on a point system. I've also talked to people who got into College of the Canyon's Collaborative program right away. These are some other options for you. I'd hate to see you give up on your goals -- no matter what your age is... Be encouraged and stay your course :-).

NSFA08,
Thank you for your kind words of encouragement. I will have to do what it takes to get in. I cannot give up on my dream. Being middle-aged I do not have much time left and have fewer options. I really can't spend two years in an ADN program and have nothing more to show for it. I need a minimum of a bachelor's and get my career on a fast track. If I fail to get into CSUF I will have to apply to Mt. St. Mary's Accelerated BSN program for next summer. However, that is supposed to be extremely competitive also. Also, Concordia University which is only a couple of miles from my home is considering adding a spring semester accelerated BSN program. I have worked at my boring finance job for 25 years now and if I end up retiring here I will have considered my life a complete failure. I knew since I was a small child that I had a calling somewhere to work in something that would make the world a better place. I had always planned to go into medicine, but that dream ended with an F in chemistry in my first quarter at UCLA many years ago. I have been wandering aimlessly since, searching for my calling until it hit me a couple of years ago that nursing was what I was supposed to be doing.

Kathliz, please don't give up. My older brother applied for 3 years to get into Pharmacy school, failed a few classes (including Chem) and kept retaking classes and reapplying until he finally got in.
He was an English major of all things before he changed his mind
and science was (arguably you can say still is) not his strong suit. If he can do it, you can too. Just be diligent.

ok, so I decided I would give it a shot and call them again. They said the process is being completed right now and will be done within the next week. So sort of the same info we have been hearing. I don't feel very hopeful at this point since I have not even gotten a call for an interview I don't know that I will. But oh well, just having the whole wait be over will be a relief. Those that have interviewed, please post your experience, it will be good to know for future applications if I don't make it this time. Good luck everyone!
