descrimination in nursing

has anyone ever had patience be racist toward you?what do you do in that sicuation?

plaese ppl lets refocus this in to something constructeve. i simplie want to ask youre expereinces with rascism and descrimination at youre jobs.

Regina, it's very hard for people here to be constructive with you. You lied to everyone, in your very first post. You kept lying for pages and pages. You ignored thoughtful, well-intentioned advice. And now you are asking for more. You have strained your credibility.

I honestly believe that you will face more discrimination because of your spelling then you ever will because of your race. It is very important to present yourself well, especially to people who don't know you and can only read what you are saying. No one will ever take you seriously if you don't work hard to improve your communication skills.

Good luck to you.

I'm in no way trying to personally attack you but i think if you checked your spelling so that it was correct and realized that calling a patient "patience" is a huge error and makes it hard for medical pro's to take your thread seriously you would probably yield some more helpful and realistic opinions and info on the question your asking.

Good luck and as far as your question goes If your expecting not to be discriminated you would be mistaken i guarantee you at one point or another whether it be patients, co-workers , or family's of PTs you will be. Take it with a grain of salt and be as professional and ethical as possible, and remember it happens to every body at some point and realistically not everyone will like you and it happens to us all.

No one spells that badly. It has to be intentional. She or whoever, must really be bored.

Honestly if your in the medical field it DOES happen a lot whether it be big or small, Hell i've had patients request someone different because my smiling and cheerful demeanor made them think i was incapable of my job and less intelligent. It's just the nature of this work. And again no offense but if a nurse came at me with spelling errors like yours i wouldn't let her touch me or administer and meds of ANY sort. People who appear to be uneducated in nursing do get discriminated against...it saves lives. I would do some soul searching if i were you. Seems as if you have alot of things to work on before taking the plunge into becoming a nurse. Its not about you and getting your feelers hurt its about the patients and their safety bottom line. Being discriminated should be the last thing on your mind if you honestly want to go into this line of work in my opinion. Have a open mind and heart and don't **** AN off they can be your greatest resource.

Never argue with a fool. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience!

Moderator, seriously, do we need to be subjected to this again? This person has zero credibility, and that's not even taking poor spelling and grammar into account.

Please do a search. There are ample threads on this topic.

You have already burned a few bridges here, and do not know that you can overcome that. getting serious replies when you have already proven yourself untrustworthy will be difficult at this point.

Can somebody please close this thread?
