So I took the TEAS V exam on 10/19. I thought I had this in the bag. I walked in there nervous but confident in my self. I thought I was going to come out in the high 70s at least. Boy was I wrong. When it turned out that I actually scored a 65, I felt my heart drop. I was in disbelief. I am so sad and depressed. I failed. I feel so dumb. Alot of people on here say that this is a common sense exam and that they barely studied and got 80s and 90s and yet here I am with a struggling 65. This has to be the biggest blow for me right now. I don't know what to do. I hear that this test is so randomn. Urrrrgghhhhhhh.

I'm so sorry you didn't do as well as you'd hoped. It's really tough when you feel prepared and get hit out of the blue with a low grade.
On the upside: There are programs around where I live that have a minimum required score of 65%, so I wouldn't say you failed, you just closed a few doors.
Another upside: You can retake it! Take a deep breath and try to pull yourself out of the funk. I know it stinks, but know you know you need to study a little differently to improve your score.
Have faith and keep at it! *hugs*

I'm so sorry, I'm sure you must be feeling pretty devastated right now.
The great thing about the TEAS is that they give you an overview of what you need improvement on after you complete the exam! I would invest in an ATI study guide if you haven't already and look at the sections you needed some help with, then retake. I actually know a few people who felt that the TEAS was pretty difficult for them, so not everyone thinks it's a piece of cake. Don't compare yourself with others, it won't go anywhere productive.

Another thing you can do is to get the app TEAS Mastery for preparation if you decide to retake it.
Thank you all so much. I appreciate the love and support. I'm not entirely over this but I am feeling better. I have accepted that I just won't be starting spring 2016. I can retest and I will its just really hard to focus especially with all of the pressures in life. For me I was constantly thinking omg I am about to be 25 I reeeeally need to get the ball rolling. Smh I'm just going to take this journey a day at a time or I will just end up going insane. Thanks again for the encouragement :)

Hello! Don't lose hope! I'm failed mine too. I'm taking it again on Wednesday, Oct 28. Did you do good in reading comprehension section?
Please don't let your age discourage you. I have students in my program who are pushing 60.
@ayelah_ganda I wish you the best of luck!! Keep me posted on how it goes.
@Miss Infermiera Thanks, I try to remind myself of these things when I'm being too hard on myself.

OMG I hated that test. I would not say it's a common sense test, they are quite tricky. I was reading at college level in the 4th grade and I did horribly on the reading comprehension part! How does that make sense? And I was always terrible at math and it was my highest score on the entire test... It left me dumbfounded to say the least. I walked it to take it the first time without studying at got a 65%. The second time I took it I studied for over a month at least 6 hours a day M-F and only managed at 75%. It does close a few doors to some places but I would keep applying to multiple schools, even ones you have not considered applying to. You might be surprised with the result :)
I applied to an unaccredited technical college and got rejected. But I applied to a university just for fun and got in with the same teas score! Sometimes life doesn't make sense :)

I wish I was 25 again lol. I'm 30 and barely starting nursing school in January. Just study your butt off, purchase a study guide and the ATI practice tests. You'll do fine!

Hi dgRN2Bee,
Sorry to hear that. I know of a girl that got into an LPN program where I live and she made a low 50. I wouldn't just give up and still apply if your advisor says you may have a good chance of getting in. My school also weighs in points from classes you took and then add them up to get a score. I wish you the best!! I also felt bad that I wanted to be out of nursing school before I turned 28. I am now 28 about to be 29 in about 3 months. I just learned that when you move to fast then that's when you will start to make mistakes. Now I am starting slow and making sure I do things right. I don't care if I am 35 before I get my RN but at least I have tried and yes it may seem like I'll be to old.
Good Luck!!

It is not just common sense test... I studied my ass off, everyday, 8 hours each day for two weeks during the summer for my 92%. Don't be comparing yourself to others too. You focus on you and how you can improve, not why you didn't do as well as others. 1. Your life isn't over. 2. You can take it again. 3. Just make sure to give yourself a few weeks to one month in between taking the test to have more time to study.
