Hello,
I am planning to attend Denver School of Nursing in July of this year. I am taking the HESI entrance exam March 14th. Has anyone taken this test at this school? if so, can you tell me a little about it? How is the math? I have the book to study with and I have done the practice tests but if there is long division and all sorts of fractions I am screwed
Thanks,
Leah

I have not taken the exam, but I heard it's not that bad. I think if you just study a little then you should do fine.

Hey! I was just wondering if you got in to DSoN and how you did on your exam? I'm planning on applying in the next year as soon as I finish my prerequisites and wanted to know how it went for you/ how competitive it was. Thanks!

Hello-
I am applying for the July 2013 start and I am so nervous about applying/trying to get into nursing school. I really want to go to DSN and do the BSN program with previous college credit, but nervous about the placement exam. I am looking for advice about getting in etc. I have a ton of awesome volunteer work, but no work experience in the hospital. I will have completed all pre reqs by May 2013- and all from a Colorado community college. I'm not nervous about the interview part- just want to get accepted! I have only applied to DSN and CU, but CU seems so much bigger and so hard to get into.
Any advice will help!!!!!!!!!!!!!! about getting in, taking the exam, literally anything! Thanks!

Hey,
I took the entrance exam a couple weeks ago and I thought it wasn't bad at all. When you come in for your interview they will give you a study guide to use, and if you just use that and the practice tests within them you will be fine. In all honesty I only studied the night before, because I have been slammed with my last prereq(which is a 10 week AP2 course), and I still found it REALLY easy. Also, the only graded sections that you will take are Math, Vocab, Grammer, and Reading Comp. While its good to brush up on conversions and decimal/fractions, keep in mind that you will have a calculator to use so that really changes the difficulty, b/c without it there would be very little time to write out every problem. Also brush up on the Vocab words they use, also in the study guide. Dont worry and good luck.

I haven't been able to find any recent information on the acceptance rates for DSN. I live in Alaska and am already planning on moving to Denver in June to begin the program on July 1st. I've read that as long as you have your prerequisites completed, you'll be accepted. However, for obvious reasons, I don't want to have my heart set on this school only to find out 6 weeks after I send in my application that I was not accepted.
I will have all my pre-requisites completed by the start date with "C"s or better as the website states. However, my worry is my somewhat low GPA. I currently have a 2.89... what do you guys honestly believe my chances are? (I may be able to pull a 3.0 with my last semester of grades rolling in, which are composed of A's and B's) I do have volunteer experience working with people, but nothing that is from a hospital setting. I am confident that I will not have any issues with the entrance exam and I am determined to push myself through the BSN program with flying colors. I am only worried about being accepted in the first place! What do you guys think?

Kayla,You should be fine. I was chosen to interview and test with less than a 2.5 GPA in core sciences and about a 3.1 all together with the other necessary courses for the program. I applied October 2012 for the April 2013 start & am scheduled to go to Denver ( I live in California) on Feb 5 & 6. I applied to various community colleges & private universities here in CA & they denied me entrance to their programs so I was stoked when I got a "yes" from DSN.
HELP! I am set to take my placement exam for DSN in March for the July 2013 start. Can any give me any advice on the placement exam? Anything stand out that I really need to focus on? I have tons of volunteer experience and roughly a 3.78 GPA, so I am really hoping DSN accepts me! I got wait listed at University of Colorado. Anything tips or information on the interview process/testing will help! I have already been studying like crazy!
I sure hope you're right, Claudia! I read that some other July 2013 start date applicants got their phone calls on the 4th. Its now the 5th and I haven't gotten a phone call yet... I'm wondering if they send calls out on more than one day. I'm hoping so!!
Just received my phone call!
Congrats!!!
