  1. Yes and no. No if you are close to starting capstone, and you have no other choices they may provide you with list of past sites that they have an active agreement with.
  2. I see, I started in Aug and my field experience counselor reached out first week of Dec. if you go on your portal, you’ll be able to see who you are assigned to, maybe you can reach out to them. I honestly don’t like the group projects, and in my opinion I would of gone with a school that didn’t require the capstone. I asked prior to starting if any additional hours would be required and I was told no, and I would be able to do my Capstone at my work. Well I work in a hospital and prior to Covid19, I had to find a case manager or infection control nurse if I wanted to do it at work. I feel like they give deceiving information, which is totally wrong. I personally know other individuals that had this happen to them as well. Unfortunately they didn’t share that portion of it and I never thought to ask about the Capstone. I’ve found some instructors are much more responsive than others, and some flat out could careless. As far as the group projects go, you kinda just wait until all your classmates respond. So sometimes one person is stuck doing all the work, yet everyone gets the same grade regardless of the time and effort one put in.
  3. Your Field Experience Counselor should be assisting with you in finding placement. They try to leave up to you, but they may have Affiliation Agreements in place already in your area. I believe they are being a bit lenient right now with the requirements because of COVID-19. It is also virtual right now. When are you supposed to do your Capstone? I start in July. I do not plan on doing PHN ? I meant to ask more information on it but with everything going on right now, I decided against it. I haven’t had the best experience with GCU, so I’m doing what I need to graduate.
  4. I live in California and am attending GCU.
  5. I'm in my fourth class right now...! Hopefully will finish by Fall 2020.
  6. Agree as well. I've had a difficult time getting the right information. I attended the webinar on June 26, and was given a lot of information, very helpful, or so I thought. I immediately completed application, sent in my official transcripts and awaiting my degree plan. Well, I got a call from a rude Enrollment Specialist stating I would not get a degree plan until I finish the first class, which I wanted to start on Aug 26 to take advantage of their 500$ "scholarship", basically a discount on the first class. It's July 18 and one of my transcripts is still awaiting to be added to my account, it is still in my "To Do List". How? When it was sent in electronically, I received a confirmation and 1 transcript was sent in snail mail, and that one has been removed off my "To Do List". I've been assertive about what I expected from UTA to the Enrollment Specialists, I seem to get different one every time, I call and get no answer, I leave a voicemail and don't receive a call back, instead I get an email with a response. Before all this process I was getting calls daily. At this point, I am going with Grand Canyon University, their application fee was zero, and they request transcripts from the colleges I have attended, I'm not even having to pay for them to be sent over, they are doing the time consuming work for me. Unless a school doesn't accept their Transcript Request Form, then I would have to request, but don't foresee an issue with my schools because they have done it before using Credential Solutions & Parchment (they use other entities as well). Anyway, already having a great experience with Grand Canyon University and wouldn't recommend UTA at all at this point. Also, in a facebook group I'm in a member made a comment last week that 9 classes she took at California State University San Marcos were not accepted by UTA. I have made it clear to UTA (as they were my #1 choice) that I wanted to know exactly what my degree plan looked like and was before I took a class and I was told I would find out by early August if I submitted documents ASAP, when speaking to Enrollment Specialist she stated it takes 3-4 weeks before they receive all transcripts & 3-4 weeks after before a degree plan is formulated, not what was said in the webinar. One of the Enrollment Specialists even went on to say that they could stop calling me and close my account, I asked what about my transcripts that I had paid for and had sent already? She said they wouldn't be reviewed, rude. I wouldn't waste your time and money on this school. They refuse to even look at unofficial transcripts to give you any kind of evaluation.
  7. Very true. Just finished LVN school in July, passed the NCLEX & so have some of my classmates. I have been a CNA since May 2007 (started at 17). Never thought I'd be a CNA this long, & I see so many "young RNs", 23, 24, 25; I am 27. These young RNs have no idea how to clean up a patient, much less, talk to them! All they seem to know is how to pass medications, hang an IV & call the doctor for a new order or communicate a change of condition. It appalled me when I heard some of my classmates talk about wanting to get into RN quickly obtain their BSN to get into management. Yes- I 100% agree, know bedside nursing, the ins & outs so you can be a well rounded and knowledgeable manager. I am still working as a CNA now, plan to obtain an LVN position and continue to RN, my ultimate goal is to specialize in Wound Care but really don't want to be a manager, ever. I don't want to lose the love I have for the human race. It's a sad thing I have seen time and time again.
  8. Congrats!!!
  9. Yayy! Congrats! :)
  10. I may be starting at Denver School of Nursing (Colorado) in April. I scared of the financial part of it since I DO NOT plan on working. I work in a hospital and have gotten mixed responses, some nurses I work with say it will be a piece of cake for me to get approved for loans, others say if I really want my RN and need to work part-time I will accomplish while others tell me to be careful as to what loan I get since I will be an out-of-state student (California resident). I am worried about the living expense and how I will pay for nursing school itself. I do not qualify for grants and besides scholarships, any tips, ideas, comments, suggestions, opinions? I worked full-time as a CNA while completing pre-requisites for RN program and I did HORRIBLE. I am not about to mess up my career and chances of landing a decent job once I become an RN. I want A's & B's on my transcript!! :)
  11. If in doubt try Care.com or CareLinx.com
  12. Kayla,You should be fine. I was chosen to interview and test with less than a 2.5 GPA in core sciences and about a 3.1 all together with the other necessary courses for the program. I applied October 2012 for the April 2013 start & am scheduled to go to Denver ( I live in California) on Feb 5 & 6. I applied to various community colleges & private universities here in CA & they denied me entrance to their programs so I was stoked when I got a "yes" from DSN.
