  1. Good luck Mcca.Lisa 25! I think you will find the HESI to be easier than you think. Just do everything I have suggested, and you will be fine. Here is my 3rd quarter schedule: Monday: 8-9, 11:30-1:30 Tuesday: 8-3 Wednesday: 8-11 Thursday weeks 2-7: 10-2 Friday: off Saturday/Sunday weeks 6-10: Clincal from 7:00am-7:30pm
  2. You are pretty much in if you get an interview! Good luck!
  3. Hi elexia121, Many of my friends are making the monthly payments on their loans directly to the school and some went the federal/SallieMae route. It is definitely good to do without the loan if possible. Even with my high credit score, the interest was high. As far as accreditation, Regional is implementing a new rule that all schools need to have candidacy status with them for four years instead of two. This affected tons of schools in the area. So, with Regional, we have two more years to go. National is doing a site visit on August 23 & 24, so we should know soon about their decision. I really am loving the school! Enjoy your interview!
  4. Regional changed their rules at their last meeting, stating that schools must be in "candidate" status for four years rather than two. So, we will be waiting two more years. The NLN is doing a final site visit on August 24-25. As far as jobs go, 91% of last year's graduating classes were placed in jobs. Hope this helps!
  5. Oh, and the school I go to is Denver School of Nursing.
  6. It completely depends on the school. Some schools, mainly the community colleges, have a five year waitlist. The school I go to is private and I got right in. In fact, they offered me a spot in an earlier cohort. The universities go by merit and it's highly competitive. If you don't have a 4.0, good luck. To get your ADN, the price tag is around $12,000 if you have been a CO resident for one year. The universities cost anywhere from $50,000 to 90,000+. My school is private, so the cost for me was $48,000. Also, CO nursing programs require more prerequisites than CA schools - like pathphysiology and a specific psych class.
  7. Oops! I meant to say that the program is accelerated instead of accredited. The program is 21 months and goes by quarters rather than semesters. Right now I am carrying an 18 unit load which is exhausting when you have two kids and a husband, but I only have 16 months left! I hope you love Columbia. I loved doing all my prerequisites there!
  8. Congrats! I don't know anyone who went there. Let me know how you end up liking it. I moved to Colorado and got right in to an accreted BSN program. Nursing school is so much fun! Good luck to you.
  9. I'm carrying 18 units in one quarter in an accelerated BSN program while being a wife, and a mother of two. If I can do it, so can you! Good luck!
  10. The first quarter went extremely well for me. Straight A's! I really enjoyed the instructors and love my cohort. We are all becoming a tight knit group which makes going to school a little easier! The books are included in the price and DSN has its own bookstore. When you come for your interview, you will get a tour as well and will get to see the bookstore. I was actually impressed with it! At the end of each quarter, you are given your books for the next quarter as long as you pulled a minimum of a 78% in all classes and have paid all dues up-to-date. There were a few people in my cohort who didn't make that 78% in patho, so again, I highly suggest completing that before you start here. The interview is not really like an interview. Mostly, the admissions person does the talking. I think I mentioned this earlier but, he asked me if I have children, if I have to work, etc. to help identify those things that may keep me from being successful. Don't be nervous at all...it's a breeze and is quite laid back. Good luck!
  11. Here is the 2nd Quarter Schedule: Monday: Foundations of Nursing 11:30-2:30 Nursing Research 3:00-6:30 Tuesday: OFF Wednesday: Foundations of Nursing 8:00-10:30 Pharmacology 11:30-2:00 Pharmacology Lab 2:30-4:00 Thursday: Pharmacology 11:30-2:00 Friday: Foundations of Nursing Lab 7:00-4:00 Total Credits: 18 Thursday:
  12. I hope you are able to make it in for the fall. I thought the process was a positive one. They did not tell me how many applied for the April cohort, but I was told that I was chosen because I am an EMT, I had a good GPA, and because of my statement as to why I want to be a nurse. I have heard that if you don't make it in for the cohort you are applying for, that you will most likely make it in the next one. When I went in for my interview, I was offered a spot in the January BSN cohort, but chose to wait for April. Good luck to you!
  13. You are welcome LovePooh! My cohort consists of 48 students. They split us into two groups of 24. The A group meets on different days and times than the B group. For lecture, I have the entire class of 24 with me, and for lab, they split us into three groups of 8. The lab has 3 instructors for those 8 students, so we get great one on one help. Let me know if you have anymore questions.
  14. Typo: *of* not if.
  15. Denver School of Nursing doesn't have waiting lists and accepts a new cohort if students every three months.
