U.S.A. Colorado

Published

Hi everyone!

I'm Ann and I applied to Denver School of Nursing' s BSN april 2014 start date. I wanted to start this thread to see who else applied to the same 2014 start date. It would be nice to know anyone else that has applied. I was thrilled to recently receive an invitation for an interview at DSN and I plan to fly out to Denver from California for the interview and to take the HESI in January! Please do share a little bit of who you are, why you chose DSN, and where you're from. Hopefully this thread will help everyone get to know one another before the cohort begins. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone's responses! :)

Thank you for the info Shel!!

Apham, what part of California are you from? I lived in California (mission viejo) until 2007, then moved out to Colorado p.

I applied for the july cohort and got an interview in April.. now the waiting begins

I'm also coming all the way from CT so this west coast culture will be new to me, anyway did you find a roommate or a place yet? Here is my email I case you want to communicate [email protected]

I'm a 3rd Quarter BSN student. Please let me know if you have questions.

How'd your HESI exam go?

It went great! I passed and signed for enrollment and took my student ID! The test wasn't bad at all. The math portion had decimals, fractions, a few conversions ( metric units & us measurements) , a lot of ratios, and percentages. I briefly read over the grammar, vocabulary and reading comp but I focused studying on math the most. During the test the English portion was pretty easy. I happy to be done with the hesi and to know that I officially have a spot in the April cohort!

Were you able to use to calculator?

I am applying for the July 2014 Start date and my interview is in April! Does anyone have any information of what happens during it and how to prepare? I was also wondering if you found any good places for housing?

That is great that you got an interview! I had my interview on Monday for April start date. The interview is more like a meeting. Your admissions rep will do most of the talking. They will explain the school and the accreditation, look at your transcripts, tell you about the schedule and classes you will be taking, talk about immunizations and other paper work that you need, and get a school tour. I was asked basic questions like, why are you interested in nursing. I dressed business casual because I wanted to show I was taking the school seriously. You really do not need to worry at all!!! You will do great! I'm not sure about housing since I will be living at home. I'd look for somewhere near the light rail so you don't have to worry about parking, especially around baseball season since the stadium is a block away from the school.

I hope that helps :)
