U.S.A. Colorado

Hi everyone!

I'm Ann and I applied to Denver School of Nursing' s BSN april 2014 start date. I wanted to start this thread to see who else applied to the same 2014 start date. It would be nice to know anyone else that has applied. I was thrilled to recently receive an invitation for an interview at DSN and I plan to fly out to Denver from California for the interview and to take the HESI in January! Please do share a little bit of who you are, why you chose DSN, and where you're from. Hopefully this thread will help everyone get to know one another before the cohort begins. Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone's responses! :)

Thank you shel8027 for you help! Ill keep that in mind! So would you say if you get an interview you are basically in? I was reading a couple of other posts and someone got an alternate letter and they had better stats than me! Im so nervous!

From what I have heard and from the information I got throughout the interview process I would say that you are basically in. You have to pass you hesi test and have to be able to pay for the school. Those will be your next two factors of getting in. Once you pass your hesi test you will sign a document which will hold you a spot for the start date that you applied to. I assume that if someone does not pass the hesi ( you can take it one more time if you don't pass the first test) or if some one drops out than they will start taking people from the alternate list. I know that I got moved up to the april start date over people who had a better gpa than me. It was scary because there wasn't much info out there about the whole process.

I don't think I will have to take the HESI test since I will have a BS degree in Public Health before the start date!

I think you have to take the HESI whether you have a degree or not. I have a previous degree and lots of healthcare experience, I think I still need to take the HESI. I will find out come Tuesday!

I passed the hesi too:) dont stress it too much but definitely buy the book and study it! I passed with a 93% but i studied for three months. Focus on proportion, ratios, fractions, and conversions!! Study the vocab with the hesi a2 practice. As a matter of a fact if you do well on the practice tests of the hesi book study guide you will do great!!!!! Good luck to everyone!!! Exited to be a nursing student :)

are you in the April cohort? Did you take Patho already? Excited to FINALLY be a nursing student too!! :)

Congratulations to everyone who made it in!! Has anyone found places that are close by for housing yet? I was talking to a friend in Denver and they suggested The Regency Student Housing because they offer housing to MSU, UC Denver and Denver CC and DSN.

I'm from Denver, so I will be living in the DTC area with my brother and his wife. Are you moving to Denver for school? Also, are you relying on loans to get you through?

Yes I am! I will be moving tom Arizona and I will be relying on a little bit of loans I believe. My parents were awesome enough to help me through nursing school

I am from the denver area too, kind of haha, I'm in littleton. Are you planning on using the light rail or driving?

Shel,

I'll probably use the light rail even though DSN doesn't offer the student eco pass :(

Yea I will be using the light rail too. I don't want to deal with traffic.
