Dell Children's Nurse Residency July 2018

Hi everyone!!

I'm starting a thread for the incoming July 2018 Cohort! I thought it would be nice to get each others experiences with the interviewing process and steps to hiring! My main pick is the Pediatric Emergency Department.

Also, I was invited to the Open house next week on Feb. 23 and will be flying in to attend that. Is anyone else attending this?

Looks like we may not be considered. Another tread says that a couple people already had interviews for Dell. Since I haven't heard anything, I don't think I was considered.

I just got off the phone with the manager from DCMC rehab. I have an interview with them next week! Very excited!

I think some of those on the other thread were talking about the adult Dell hospital.

I think you're right. I woudln't get discouraged yet. Most of the units at DCMC have not started making calls. My suspision is that the recruiters are trying to fill adult spots first to thin out the pedi applicant pool.

Okay, I hope so. I am confused if they are telling people they wont find out till May, that seems late to me.

Same. They said "not to worry, because they do their interviews/calls very late". So yay to waiting -_-

I went to the open house day and talked to all of the pediatric areas and L&D and applied for 5 pediatric areas and all my applications still say submitted 3/5 so I'm waiting on a call to hopefully interview for any of mine! I'm also from out of state in Louisiana.

My applications all still say submitted, too, even though I have an interview on Thursday with Dell children's. I have a friend with two interviews this week at Seton main, and her applications still say submitted. Another friend who interviewed at Dell Seton in the ICU and her apps still say submitted. They aren't updating the website with our status. So don't worry too much about what the website says.

Also, there seems to be some confusion in the thread, and as a local, I thought I'd try to clear it up a bit.

Dell children's Medical Center = DCMC

Dell Seton = Dell Seton Medical Center at UT. This is the adult hospital. Also sometimes referred to as the "new Brackenridge" or brack.

It's super confusing, even for the people who live here, and I wish they would have named it something else. Hope this helps as it seems like a lot of yall are from out of town. Hope you hear soon!

Pediatric rehab

The interview went great! Interview ended at 1300 and I had an offer by 1730! Keep at it, and don't give up.

The unit is an inpatient pediatric rehab/medsurg. I really wanted PICU, but this is a really good fit, too. I can always transfer to PICU in time. I think this is going to be a good spot for me to start my nursing career and really hone my skills before being dropped into critical care.

I have lots of home health rehab experience and was a pediatric recreation therapist before nursing school. I was told that was what made my resume stand out at the open house.

By the way, even though I have an offer, the website STILL says submitted for the status of my applications! Ridiculous
