Anyone applying to Delaware County Community College's Fall 2012 Nursing Program? I am and I am also scheduled to take the TEAS in a few weeks. What did you think of the TEAS exam? I took the prep class and found it somewhat helpful in terms of focusing my studying. Anyone have to take the TEAS more than once to get the score they wanted? Share your scores if you don't mind and If you reading this and you are already in the program what scores did you get on the TEAS and how do you like the program so far?

That's good to know about OU, chuckster!

You bring up good options but I'm pretty set on Jeff... if you get hired there, I heard they have a great tuition forgiveness program.

4boysmama - I'll see you on the 7th - even though I'm evening/weekend program I switched to the 12:30pm meeting so I wouldn't miss A&P lab. Just look for the preggers lady.

Jeff and both have excellent programs!

I've been told the same thing, and it's one of the reasons I'd go with Jeff even without the neonatal thing. That plus the automatic transfer agreement make it especially appealing.

Is this your first? I'm super impressed that you'll be doing this with a baby! My youngest (I've got 4 boys) will be starting kindergarten in the fall, and I'm still freaked out about managing it!

Nope, it's our second. :-) (Second boy, too.)

I'm freaking out a bit but I've got a great support system and I'm hoping that by the time my boys are starting kindergarten I'll be done school and becoming settled as a nurse. But 4 boys? Wow!!

I'm due 5 days after my AP final. lol

I got accepted into DCCC evening/weekend nursing program for the fall 2012 too, and I was also considering Jefferson and for my BSN. See you guys tomorrow night (3/7) for the information session. Can't wait to start!! :) :)

I was at the info session yesterday - it was long! Mainly it was going over physical exam/immunization requirements, the Math for Nurses class (and the challenge exam to try to place out of the math class), and then meeting with an advisor to actually schedule your Nursing class section, the math class, and whatever other classes you need to register for for summer or fall (if any!) It's nice to have first dibs on classes, no more staying up till midnight to register!

Thanks for posting that! I'm all geeked out and ready to go the session this afternoon.

nsabby - how did your session go? Which section did you choose? (I'm in Sect 1, which lots of people on Monday were picking, so I think it might have gotten full quickly) Will you be going to the 3pm or 6pm orientation on the 30th? I'm not looking forward to the math challenge test, but I am determined to ace it so I don't have to take that class in the summer!!

It went quicker than I expected! I got home at 3:30 and had time with my son before heading out to Pennock's Bridge for Anatomy and Physiology so it ended up being a really nice day.

I'm in the evening/weekend section so I didn't have to make a choice. I also signed up for A&PII for next fall during the day (which I might end up dropping depending on how I'm feeling about work/school/2 kids).

I'll be at the 6pm orientation. How about you? I wouldn't worry too much about the Math for Nurses class. I took it last summer and it was literally the easiest course I've ever taken and with it being the summer session it was only 4 weeks long. If you're worried about the challenge, I'd say do as much practice as you can and whatever you do, check your work backwards and forwards. What always screws me up is the little errors from not checking your work. But once you get back into the swing of things with the formulas it's not too bad.

did anyone ever have the professors mehmet ozdener or sacha kassovska bratinova for a&p 1&2 @ dccc??? how were they??

Well, folks, I'm afraid I have to bow out of this forum. I figured out that while I can work, go to school, and be a mom to a newborn and 2 year old at the same time I wouldn't do any of it well. So that combined with the opportunity to save for a year so I can quit my job in Fall 2013, I'm postponing DCCC's program until next year. It was an incredibly hard decision: one I've been wrestling with for several months now but it came down to not being able to stomach being away from my newborn three nights a week and every weekend.

So I wish everyone the best of luck. I really hope you keep this thread active as the year progresses so I can see what you're up to.

Here's not taking the TEAS again. :-D

Best of luck to you. I also postponed my start date due to work issues before I eventually entered the program (in my case, it was because of a lot of business travel). It is an excellent nursing program with many good instructors and in the recent past, DCCC grads were well-received in the nursing workforce. Things probably have changed though, and job searches for ADN's are tougher now.

If you'll permit a piece of advice: Find at least a part-time job in a hospital and keep it while earning your ADN and becoming an RN. It is increasingly difficult to land a nursing job as an ADN and nearly everyone who was hired from the class of 2010 was already working as a CNA, Tech, etc. My understanding is that upwards of 50% that year's graduating class had not found nursing jobs 12 months or more after graduating.

Again best of luck.

does anyone know how hard neumann university's full time nursing program is to get into, i'm going to be a senior and was thinking of applying to neumann, i don't have the best grades, any answers or comments would be greatly appreciated. THANKS
