Degree Devastation - School Lost Accreditation

Updated:   Published

Imagine you are 3 weeks shy of graduation and found that your school loses accreditation, effectively making you ineligible to sit for boards.

This is what happened to the Lehman 200, who had no idea the school’s program was being looked into by the CCNE.

Please support us in asking the CCNE to allow us to sit for our boards! Sign, and if you can share, please do. We need all the help we can get.

Remember that the school lost accreditation for 2 points!

But if an allowance is made for 2 points, then why not 2 more after that? And another 2 after that? When will it stop?

The standard was set, the school failed to meet it.

Right, no one is debating the standard, the underlining problem is that none of this information was or has to be publicized until the school lost or loses accreditation (which is apparently perfectly legal). Students should not be punished or should not be in the dark about these matters.
Also, the purpose of being board certified is to show whether or not you are fit to practice (at least by the standards of the accrediting agency).  So the rationale of going through a sub par curriculum is sorta/kinda moot in that if the student passes the boards, they are competent to practice as FNPs. Statistics as we all know are such that you can have extremely high performers and some lower performers, average up their totals and the low scores drag down the average. It does not mean all the students are low performers.

Lehman is NOT a community college, it is a city college.

Other than that, I am not surprised. Lehman’s nursing program has been pretty subpar these past couple of years. The department is a mess and students are always notified of important things at such a short/late notice. Things are so hush hush. It’s not fair to the students. I tell everyone to stay away if they can. I’m sorry this happened to you!
