Define Nursing in 3 words.... explain :clown:

Accountability without authority.

compassion, advocate, dedication

my 3 words. Acutally more geared towards my starting nursing school in 2 weeks.

Humble.

Be open to all learning experiences, even _____ (fill in the blank with any of the less than glamorous nursing duties.) Realizing that I am a baby in the world of nursing, every experience has value and I can learn something from everyone. I do not know it all and will probably make mistakes.

Hungry.

Be eager to learn. Soak up the knowledge like a sponge. Show initiative and create learning opportunities whenever possible; I cannot afford to let them pass by.

Smart.

Be able to think critically and apply theoretical knowledge to practice. Easier said than done, I know. What I mean is I must 1)be able to take in the massive amounts of reading required 2) synthesize the reading so that it is meaningful and I can remember it 3) figure out how this jives with what I'm learning in clinical and 4) see how it is done in the real world and adapt as necessary.

Be smart about my health - physical and mental. Simple things like eating healthy, working out, and adqeuate sleep will go a long way in my ability to concentrate and learn.
