December Test Takers Support Group

Nursing Students NCLEX

So, I finally feel I should not give up......I will be a retaker for 2nd time in December. I felt so low when I failed the test in July'07. I was thinking to take in october but just couldnt get motivated to study. In the meantime, I joined RN-BSN program. So, currently I am in school taking 15 credits of classes. I need to have my RN license before winter so I can do practical in communnity health, a required class for BSN.

After visiting this site almost everyday, reading success stories and encouragement given by one of my wonderful instructor from my ASN program, I am motivated to do it.

So, newcomers as well as retakers, Lets get together, support each other and lets pass the RN test. WE CAN DO IT.

For now, I have started practicing Q&A at least 2 hrs/day from Saunders CD. I will keep you updating and hope you all will share the tips as well.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF US. :welcome: TO THE SUPPORT GROUP .

i suggest you just review important topics. here are some: fluid & electrolytes..the hypo and hyper part. memorize lab values even the day before your exam you can have a peek of it..it won't hurt. review major drug classifications..like psych, gi, cardio meds..digoxin,lithium,insulin are common questions. review diseases like addisons, cushings, graves, myxedema, chf, gout, osteoporosis. infection control is important..you should know all the precautions.

when it comes to delegation just remember you cannot delegate patients that needs assessment, discharge, evaluation. delegate to cna the routine procedures only. as for q's who to see first..always eliminate the 2 least unstable first then choose the most unstable bet. the remaining two q. what i noticed about those questions is they give you the disease and the complaint of the px. you should know if it normally occurs with the disease or the therapy..e.g. px in chemo is vomiting. you already know that it occurs with chemo so it means the px is atleast stable. or px 1 day post appendectomy with pain..you know it's normal to have pain so eliminate that. this is where critical thinking applied.

as to the priority action i used kaplan strategy. check assessment vs. implementation. priority is assessment . then apply maslow, choose if it is psych or physical. eliminate psych physical comes first. then apply ABC.

don't try to overload yourself a few days before the exam. justa have a light studying. if you feel like you're cramming to go over everything 2 days before the exam i think that will be bad. coz by that time you should be just browsing on your notes. and feel more relaxed. don't study the day before your exam. just relax! and pray pray pray. God is good! Merry Christmas!

iel21, oh my god, i am so so so happy!!!! you did it my friend. I knew you would do it. Perfect news... God brought the glory for you. prayers really work you know... I am just so estatic. I wish we can have party, here's a virtual party congratz for you. :balloons::balloons::balloons::biggringi:biere::smiley_aa:mortarboard::yelclap::yeah::loveya::studyowl::Santa2::Present1:
