I just heard that I got boarded as as a 1LT in the army reserves, my age in grade waiver went through. I don't know how much "constructive" credit I will get but it will be some. I have heard 3-8 years, I have been an RN for 16 years (LPN for 8 yrs prior to that) anyone have any ideas about constructive credit and what difference it makes?

Patty, congrats on the 1lt -
Try looking at this -
Google 'AR 135-101' then go to page 17 in section 3-2.

Congrats!
For info on your "constructive credit" you can go to HRC portal and access your personal records...... under documents, "eventually (could take months)" you will see your commissioning papers, constructive time, waivers, diplomas, etc.......
Your "career counselor" at HRC st. louis, can discuss your constructive credit and probable promotion date.
I just spoke with mine..... I commissioned in April 08, I could have been up for CPT this January, however "you must be in the reserves for one year" before you are promotable.......
So, I have to wait until next January.
Good Luck,
c.
p.s. At OBLC in Nov., I did not see ANY RNs who were higher than a 1LT.......
Only PA, FNP, MD, Vet, CRNA were CPT's or Higher!!!

Congrats to you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Constructive credit is used to determine your entry rank and date and future promotion time line follows that... it's in the AR I referenced above.

LPN count for nothing as the army does not even see them as a nurse (chaps my ass too! - I had 10 plus years as an LPN to include active duty) RN years divided by 2 equals constructive credit years which account to time in grade, so you should have 8 yrs constructive RN credit. Some of that (3 - I think) gave you your 1LT, the other 5 goes toward CPT and you should be able to be boarded for CPT after you successfully complete OBLC. This is my understanding, make sure your orders lists your constructive credit so you can move up quicker. Some new nurse coming in would have to be 2LT for about 2 yrs to make 1LT then make CPT about 4 yrs after that (in the reserves).
Hummm,
I was just told by an HRC career counselor "you had to be in for one year (from your commission date) " before promotion eligibility otherwise I would be up in Jan. 09..........
She also explained promotions are once a year---January?
What has everyone else been told.......?
thanks

Well,
It looks like I just found the answer to my question about minimum time before promotions (Time in grade TIG) (despite adequate DOR--date of rank or constructive credit)........For RC !
For concerns about promotions you can reference document AR 135-155
http://www.army.mil/usapa/epubs/pdf/r135_155.pdf
" To be eligible for consideration for promotion to the next higher grade, an ARNGUS or USAR officer must have continuously performed service on either the RASL or the ADL (or a combination of both lists) during the 1– year period ending on the convening date of the promotion board, and must meet the TIG requirements in tables 2-1 or 2-3, as appropriate. " (RASL--reserve active service list and ADL- active duty list)
This document is very readable and addresses all the eligibility questions concerning promotions......But I still don't know how often "promotions boards" meet? I guess only once a year for RC...
older,
sounds right - and different branches do meet at different set times... so i'm not sure if jan is the time frame or not - but sounds typical.. the board meets and release the promotion dates... so it does not necessairly mean that is when you get promoted, rather that is when the results are released 'promotion list'.

Yes the RC AMEDD board meets once a year around January. The results take some time to get posted (3 months or more). 60 days out, if you are eligible, your AKO account will have your board file posted to show what records the board will look at. It gives you time to correct or add important papers, your DA photo updated, etc. AC meets twice a year for the AMEDD.
How do we make arrangements for swearing in or commissioning, how do we get our military ID, what is the military ID good for, for a Reserve nurse thanks
