December army reserve boards

Published

I just heard that I got boarded as as a 1LT in the army reserves, my age in grade waiver went through. I don't know how much "constructive" credit I will get but it will be some. I have heard 3-8 years, I have been an RN for 16 years (LPN for 8 yrs prior to that) anyone have any ideas about constructive credit and what difference it makes?

How do we make arrangements for swearing in or commissioning, how do we get our military ID, what is the military ID good for, for a Reserve nurse thanks

P376,

You are RC, right? If so, your recruiter will help you with scheduling commission and the details around it.

I got my military ID, AFTER I received my orders (2+months from commission date) at my unit. Your military ID will allow you to enter and make purchases at the commisary, px, class 6 (alcohol store), etc.......or online at aafes

good luck,

can you us the commissary even when you are not drilling? is stuff there really cheaper? when do we get our ako login? I have been looking for tuition reimbursement as well but there are a couple of issues. stuff I read say that to qualify for reimbursement for MSN courses you have to be a captain. and also they will only pay for bsn courses if it will be your 1st bs degree. I am an RN with a BS in biochem. and 1/2 of an MS in that, I have no desire to go for another BS, there are several MSN programs that will let in an RN with a BS in a related field. that is what I would be interested in, and since the bonuses are no more, I would gladly get an MSN if they would pay for it.

1) you should be able to use STRAP to get your MSN ($1600 a month while enrolled at least 1/2 time). Owe the service 2 year for every one afterwards. TA is only there until the funds run out and you may not get it. You can not use it while using STRAP.

2) the commissary is like other places, some things cheaper, some the same, some more expensive it seems, but supposedly you pay cost plus 5%.

3) you can go anytime with your ID card now I think or maybe limited to so many times a year.
