Dear Lord, give me the strength to deal with yet another GROUP PROJECT

Published

I can't take this anymore. Every semester, another group project, another headache. Okay, Miss you-decided-there-should-be-a-group-meeting-after-class-with-no-warning, how about an email or a text, I got plans and can't drop them for your every whim so cut the hissy fit and give me at least a couple hours notice. Or you, Mr. I-have-strong-ideas-about-what-we-SHOULDN'T-cover-but-no-actual-input-on-what-we-should-do...either give suggestions or just go with the flow. Or the rest of you, who don't check your email or respond to group requests - thanks for the apology four days later as we're busy turning in the final product, while you're on your cellphone during the entire class...catching up on email Thanks Lady who gave us all her slides in a completely different format, forcing one person to take an hour to fix her junky looking presention made up of multiple fonts and text colors, complete with citations in MLA (uh, have you seemed to catch the drift that we're using APA here?) and several misspellings. And a huge thank you to the teacher who stuck me with these people, causing me to rip my hair out and dread going to school.

Is real-life nursing like a group project? Because if it is, I need to run for my life. I am losing my mind here...I have HAD IT and I'm only a few weeks into the semester.

they simply smack of middle school to me...

My first semester I missed an "A" by 1 point which, while I could have done better on an exam along the way, was the 1 point missed because one person in our group showed up late and didn't have her information by presentation time and instead of docking only her that point, the group missed it. She, like many others listed above, failed out that semester.

I am so discouraged because I have taken and failed the nclex twice and not sure what to do. It's been 2 yrs since I graduated and need to get it together but not sure how. I've taken a review course and this last time it took 3 mths to get the results which gave me false hope that I passed. I've read other post where people are on the 5, 6 th time, I don't want to be there. Any suggestions. I'm not giving up that's for sure.

Group project = torture.

I know it can be tough when you're working with people you don't like, annoying people, disorganised people but I think that's sort of the point of why you are doing it... it's all to do with developing team working skills and management. Set out clear routines if you can; as a group decide what days/hours to keep free just in case and establish a notice period where you have to give a certain amount of notice rather than telling you a few hours before or the day before where you need to cancel your plans. Provide feedback to each other - don't be cruel about it but give feedback, recognise each others strengths & weaknesses and use them to your advantage. I know it's easier said than done but implement things like this as early as possible when starting a group project and it may well prevent things from getting out of hand further down the line.

yup, and then you get the passive aggressive who superficially agree, and the aggressives who politely or not so politely tell you to go where the sun don't shine, for trying to impose yourself on them, even though they were making no effort to do the job.
