Anybody thinking about El Centro/ Northlake in the DCCCD for Jan 2006?
Hi Everyone.
I'll be applying for the fall semester at El Centro also. I'm worried about getting accepted, but I'm sooo ready to quit this job and go to school.
The only class I need to get out of the way is Micro. Saved the best for last I guess, but I'm having trouble getting into a class at night.
Does anyone know how to calculate your GPA? I have a "B" in A & P I and "A's" in the rest of the prereqs. What GPA would that be? I'm worried it won't be high enough and I REALLY don't want to retake A & P I.
Good luck to you all
To calculate GPA:
A=4 pts
B=3 pts
c=2 pts
You multiply the points you earned by how many hours that particular class was.
Here's yours:
A&P: 4 (4 hour credit class) x 3 (since you got a B)= 12
English 1301: 3 (3 hour class) x 4=12
College Algebra: 3 (I think for everyone it's a 3 hour class even if you took the 4 hour one) x 4=12
Psych: 3 x 4=12
Then you add everything together:
48
Then you divide that # by the total # of credit hours which is 13.
48/13=3.69
Hope that makes sense!
Hi & welcome, Cheryle.
Good luck in Micro & your Fall application. I took Micro at Brookhaven during Maymester/Semester I, and it was at night. I'm not sure if they offer it at night all the time, though. M. Serra was the instructor.

Please consider taking it over. You never know what the cut off will be, but for the past two semesters it was 3.77. An "A" in A&P is REQUIRED to make a 3.77. Just think, take it over, make an A, & you will be going in with a 4.0!! :)
Also, A&P is a very important base in nursing. You have to make sure you get A&P down in order to go further in your nursing studies. Even those with A's may have to do some A&P reviewing later on.
I would go ahead and apply, of course, but plan on taking A&P over again. Also, no matter what, if this is what you really want, never give up. It may take a little longer by having to retake the class, but it will be for your benefit.
Good luck! :)
TXMOM - thanks for calculating that for me. It DOES make sense to me now.It figures it's a 3.69. I was told they stopped accepting at 3.77 for the last application period.
Maybe I will be retaking A & P I.

Most of the time they are either in the beginning or the middle of the month. I know the last one for August was on August 1st for ECC and August 4th, I believe, for NLC. So far there isn't any scheduled ones for the month of September. I saw a couple of programs who said they don't have any until the month of October. ?????
I want to buy some supplies so bad but I don't know what to get and also I don't want to get my hopes up if I am not accepted.
