I am sitting in the library now. I have already been to the welcome back party once.

There are three student government president candidates who are giving ice cream to everybody. I've already had two.

There are tables for student clubs also. I found out that the nursing student club has meetings on Monday only. Unfortunately I have classes here on Tuesdays and Thursdays this semester.

There are other free stuff like cups, pen and pencil with NLC logo and lots of candy. :)

Oh, and I have seen some Cowboys cheerleaders there, too.

There is supposed to be some games also, but I haven't seen that yet. I think I go back for more vanilla ice cream. :)

I went back for another round. I had ice cream #3 and an alcohol free margarita. :)

I also collected some free stuff so I can give you those on our first day of NURSING SCHOOL. :balloons:

I wish they would send out the letters sooner! My hubby said I can get my stethoscope for my bday, and my PDA for Christmas......AFTER I find out if I make it for Spring '06! (I'm wanting a Littman Cardiology III b/c I want to make sure I am able to hear well!)

ok......WELL, what if I don't make it? Do I still get the stethoscope & PDA, well, at least the PDA?

I'm also going to buy a digital recorder, unless my PDA has one on it. I think being able to record the lectures, & just download and burn them will be a good thing.

I spent my evening last night at a freshman football game, and tonight I plan on going to the varsity football game.

Tomorrow night, my hubby wants to go to the Grapefest thing in Grapevine. Sunday night I will be resting, and getting things ready for the week.

I hate feeling like I have a wasted weekend, but I'm just not good at teaching myself stoichiometry! I'll wait until I get lectured on it, then Tuesday and/or Thursday, I'll go to tutoring for the extra credit homework. (6 weeks left for me!)

Hope everyone's classes are going well!

It's nice having a birthday soon after Oct. 15.

My bday is November 17th. :)

I may end up with a different Littman, but I really want the Littman Cardiology III. https://www.reddingmedical.com has it for $122.95, a free student kit, and S&H, for a total of $132.94.

I have two cheap stethoscopes already, which is a little funny. One has a clock on it. I found it in my storage the other day. The clock is messed up, so I can't use that one anyway. Oh darn....lol

The other one was my very first one, and it was even cheaper than the one with the clock in it. So, I definitely don't want to use that. lol

UPDATE: Here's a quote from a friend of mine's e-mail she sent me today! She just started an ADN program in a different county this semester:

"Nursing school is way different from anything else, it is truly critical thinking. It is important to know the fact, but now I am tested on how do you apply what you know to what do you do about it. Very different."

And supporting hose or socks. Most posters recommend buying some pairs before starting clinicals. I hope those are not expensive.

YES!! My mom and I discussed these yesterday. lol

She said back when she had to wear hose to work, she used to always wear a light support hose. She said I need to look into finding some geared toward Diabetes patients....really good support hose. I do not want varicose veins if I can help it!

ALSO, a clip-board that you can hold stuff in. (hmmm, I may go to Staples today....lol) I hope we all get in starting Jan. I'm ready to start picking up the little items now!!!! :)

Ok, I couldn't help myself. I went & bought a storage clipboard! lol

There was two different kinds with a calculator. I chose a whitish/gray granite color with the calculator separate from the clip. One reason is that the other clipboard's calculator was the actual clip, and it was plastic. The one I purchased is a metal clip, and the calculator is above the clip. I figured the metal clip would be stronger.

If we end up needing something different, a certain color, or I just don't get in for Spring, I'm sure I can use it around the house, or for other classes. :)

I made myself not buy a bunch of pens yet. HAHAHAHA

I haven't bought any NS stuff, yet. But I have a question. Does it matter what the color is the tubing of your stethoscope? Can I buy any color?

I doubt it matters; I haven't heard about any specifics. I sure wish they had more information online!

I don't want to ask my friend that was in at NLC because the rules may change from semester to semester. You never know.

I wish I would have thought about going to another info session to ask these questions. (Uniform, stethoscope, hose, shoes, scissors, clipboard, etc.)

Maybe I'll go to September's, if there is one at NLC. They are usually at the end of the month, correct?
