Dcccd 2006

Anybody thinking about El Centro/ Northlake in the DCCCD for Jan 2006?

No, I will be finished with everything in Dec. and will put my app. in for the 2/28 deadline. I went to an information session at ECC in March and heard the same 3.77 with 11 supports. I was just getting a little worried (paranoid). You are right, they might not of had their applications complete which I can't imagine. Why go through all of this and miss something simple like an immunization?

Read my earlier post about the girl applying for the second time still not knowing she was supposed to have a CPR card.

I'm sure some of the denials are from people just not reading.....or maybe their 4.0 was for only 1 class, and not all the pre-reqs? :uhoh3:

Who knows.....

Well I'm sure this happens quite often. With so many things you must have done in order for your application to be 100% complete I'm sure it's not that hard to miss something. Most people are just so focused on the prereqs. that they don't realize all the other stuff is just as important.

I agree. This person may be me, you, or anyone on here. Things happen. So, I'm not really trying to bad mouth this person. I'm just saying things need to be done ahead of time, especially if you have already been denied during one or more application periods.

However, if I don't get in the first time I apply, I'm not going to wait until 5 days (2 of them being Sat & Sun) before finding out why I wasn't accepted.

I'm going to make sure I have everything in line before applying again.

Crap, do you think they would deny me for not having the CPR card? I hope they don't, especially since I called and Linda and the Asst dean said it would be ok that I didn't have it with my app, but to do it asap.

You said that you were putting a note of the date of the class in your application packet. I'm sure that is good. As long as you take it up there, or fax it ASAP afterwards, you should be just fine. (I would take it up there, personally, and make sure it is placed IN your application packet! That's just the type of worry-wort I am. lol)

So, I'm sure it would all depend on GPA, etc.

That girl probably had other reasons why she didn't get accepted. She was just naive enough to wait 5 days (actually 3 not counting Sat/Sun) before the next application period ENDED!

So, calm down, I'm sure you have enough to worry about without adding the stress of the CPR card. :icon_hug:

OK, thanks, I feel better now..I'm just a little on edge waiting for October as I'm sure all of us are ! :rotfl: I hate when I do that, I start doubting myself, Did I do everything right? Did I forget something?

Ugggh, C'mon October and get here already!

I feel the same way. In fact, I called and asked if a copy of my health record from my high school would be fine b/c I was born in 73, and that's the only record of my MMRs I have.

They said that would be fine. However, when I got my physical, I got another MMR as a booster. I'll probably go get another one towards the end of this month, just to be safe. I'll just fax that record.

I should call Linda Anderson tomorrow and talk to her about it. I didn't talk to her or the asst. dean (Charlotte Green), so that made me start to doubt whether or not the school health record was good enough. lol

At any rate, I'm sure I already have an immunity to mumps, measles & rubella, but ny MD told me that it wouldn't hurt to get another one. (I told him I'd rather get the MMR instead of a titer b/c if it came back that I didn't have MMR antibodies, I would have to take the MMR anyway.)

So, here I am rambling on again.

40 days until 10/15!!!!!

Back to studying chemistry!

Hey, we're in the 30's now!

:nurse: :balloons: 39 days until October 15!!! :balloons: :nurse:

Good luck everyone!

TXmom,

Call Linda Anderson or anyone in the HEALTH OCCUPATION OFFICE, ASAP! I went through a health program at EL centro so I know how "wierd" that office can be. They can drop folks form consideration of admissions for small reasons and even for things they did not do (applications "lost" by office workers, etc). I know this from firsthand experience.

If You call them you can get it all cleared up before it becomes an issue.

You think I should call even though I already talked to her and Charlotte Green before I turned it in? YIKES!! That is scary!!

And I included a copy of the receipt showing that I am taking that class on 9/30.. I was planning on faxing a copy. When I talked to her and Linda, they said it wasn't required but we HAD to have it before clinicals.

Make sure she remebers your name, so if they get to your application this week it won't get put aside.

You are getting your CPR card this week right? Walk it down there ASAP and put it in Linda's hand, (or someone of similar authority) so you are SURE they get it!

I think EL Centro is a great school as far as the teachers and clinical training is concerned. But the administration and support is terrible. If they where HALF as good as the clinical training it would be the best school as the country!
