11 days and counting for the CPNE

So, besides microwaving Jell-O, what are some tips that you CPNE veterans can dish out fo me and us others awaiting their CPNE? What is something you found out when you where there that surprised you, confirmed things you heard elsewhere, etc.? Whatever you got, dish it up! :hlk:LOL I like the Hulk dude.

Here's the stupidest question any of you ever heard, but it is freaking me the heck out. Okay, so I have the latex allergy "disability." I have been told that the site should have latex-free sterile gloves for the sim lab, but I am afraid that they are going to be too big. (I wear a size 6.5.) I received 3 pairs in my EC skills bag that are 7.5. I can't use that size in the test on the wound or I will likely not do well. (The long parts that go past my finger constantly touch the wound and skin and stuff, even with my hands up high.) However, I was told that I could bring in my own sterile gloves because you know I use a bunch doing medical transcription and have shelves full of these things. Do you think I could buy sterile EXAM gloves that come 2 gloves in a pack rather than buy sterile SURGICAL gloves like I got in my skills bag? I wouldn't use surgical gloves on a wound anyway in real practice unless that puppy of a wound went up to my elbow....The prices are quite a bit different, and I don't have much time to contemplate this much longer. What do y'all think?

You need sterile gloves, not clean, not sterile surgical.

I didn't think I needed these big ol' sterile surgical gloves, but that's what the EC skills bag people thought I needed. They must have one box of the "latex allergy nerds glove box" that they got on sale or something that was full of stupid sterile surgical gloves. That's why I asked. Thank you. :)

I like the nurse hat post icon you stuck in there. That reminds me that my hubby wanted to wear a nurse hat at his pinnings, but they apparently wouldn't let him. He would have looked hot.

:DThat is sooooooooo funny! Traci

You should take your own gloves to the CPNE skills lab, that way if they do not have your size in latex free you could suggest using your own. Also tab the Nursing Diagnosis book for the most common DXs, when you use one mark it so it is easy to find for the examiner. Talk yourself thru each part so the examiners know you know your stuff. Good luck!
