CVS - NEW YORK - CGFNS 2019

Published

Hi guys, I am from outside USA who went thru the process of CGFNS NY to take NCLEX-RN. If you have questions about CGFNS new york, ask me and I'll try my best to answer.

Cos I have seen a topic about this and it has so many threads to a point that it is confusing.

Usually if over 10 years since at school you don’t have to send in secondary school certificate. I think I had 150 hrs on average on theory and a lot more clinical hours when I applied to NY way back in 2002

Hi! I'm confused with CGFNS and NYSED process. So I paid for CVS but never sent any documents to CGFNS. Instead I went straight to NYSED with my application and sent my school and license documents to them. Now I received an email from CGFNS saying that my application has been completed and they will send my CVS to NYSED. Now when I check my log in at CGFNS it only says waiting to be recieved for my school and license records. Any help with this please? Thanks

Hi @PediaNurse

May I ask you why did you use CVS NY but did not send any documents to them? It's seems like you're paying for the service but did not use it.
The usual process would be:
1. Pay CVS CGFNS NY and follow all the information they gave you to process your documents (like print the cgfns files & give it to your school/license issuer)
2. Wait for the CGFNS to receive your file (which was sent by the school)
3. Wait for the CGFNS to verify your files then they will send it to NYSED after (8-10 weeks I forgot) regardless if it is done or not.

To sort everything out, I recommend calling CGFNS and NYSED.

You can send your files directly to NYSED using the specific forms they have on their website BUT they recommend CVS-CGFNS-NY for FASTER processing. I don't know how long would it take if you won't use CVS CGFNS NY.

I hope I made it clear. If you still have questions, just ask me. I'll try my best. ?

Hi! Thanks for your reply. Two friends recommended that I send my documents directly to NYSED since it is much faster then CGFNS and they both had received confirmation emails and they're just waiting for their ATTs now. So now I'm confused if it will affect the status of my application with NYSED because of the CVS from CGFNS.

@PediaNurse ohhh I see, I can't really say how would that go cause I did not experience that. So I assume you already sent and paid your RN application to NYSED online? Cos if you have already, they have a "Contact Us" page where you can email them to track the progress of your file. I would recommend giving them a call both CGFNS and the NYSED about your situation.

@PediaNurse I did the same thing that you did. When you apply to CGFNS and NYSED, that's all you do for the time being. Like @natsuhomes1 said, CGFNS will contact your nursing school and ask them for ALL the verified nursing school documents and it must be sent by your school (not you) to NYSED. When I initially sent it myself, I received a call and an email from NYSED stating that they recieved my school documents however I wasn't supposed to do that because it is strictly a CGFNS to school to NYSED transaction which caused tampering. I had to start over again which delayed my application. The 2nd time around, I notified my school that they were going to receive a "request" from CGFNS and my counselor got the documents ready when that time came. NYSED has to "verify" all our nursing school certifications. From the time I started CGFNS, refiled again, to receving my ATT, it took 8-10 months. It should have been faster however, I tried to "speed" it up by sending them myself which actually delayed it.

Hi! Yes the school and license office sent my transcripts and license verification directly. How did you refile if I may ask?

@natsuhomes1 and anyone who would share their experience and advice,

May I know where were you educated?

I was graduated from a nursing school in Japan, hopefully I am not lack of any hours in clinical or theory. Also, worked in a hospital for 3 years, but not working as a nurse for almost these 4 years after I have my first baby. I am now in US with my american husband and baby.

I am currently waiting for validation of the transcript forms which CGFNS told me they are not valid (signature and seal are not valid).

May I know what and how long the process takes after files are sent from CGFNS to NYSED? (NYSED, Comp Educ. etc)? Can you make an easy list out just for the service and period?

I am not sure about what are the steps after files sent to NYSED.

I applied licensure to NY state already, but not NCLEX RN yet, because I thought I am only supposed to apply with Pearson Vue after NYSED tells me I am eligible to take an exam. At what point did you apply for NCLEX RN and how did you get ATT?

Appreciate your patience and kind help.

I graduated at the Philippines
1. Did the school sent your transcript to CGFNS? or you did? What did they suggest after telling you that it is not valid?
2. CGFNS to NYSED is 3-5 weeks for my case.
3. When NYSED received it, it took 10-12 weeks before I received my ATT
4. Then I paid and scheduled at Pearson Vue ONLY after I got my ATT.

Hope this helps.

@natsuhomes1

CGFNS to NYSED only took 3-5weeks ? So you didn't have any problem with the signature and seal of the license and transcript ?

The transcript was sent from my school. CGFNS told me the signature and seal are not valid, they just told me to not be involved and I don't have to do anything. Hoping that they send mail (something to validate the signature and seal of my school) to the right place , I tell them my school address and email address and person in charge of my application. At least , I want them to do their best to send the papers (whatever they have to) to the right department to facilitate the validation process.

My school sent it to CGFNS. 3-5 weeks after CGFNS received it, they sent it to NYSED. I didn't have any problems with my documents.
