Curry Accel BSN- April 1st deadline

U.S.A. Massachusetts

Published

Hello!! I am looking heavily into applying for Curry's accel program. Is there anyone out there that has attended the program or is applying this year for the April 1st deadline?

Thanks, I am out of state so can't attend an info session.

I wonder how many they place on the waitlist? I am starting to think that due to its small cohort, Curry is the most competitive Accel program in the area. I know someone who was rejected at Curry and accepted at MGH. I heard that MGH accepts around 90 but I am not sure how accurate that figure is.

No letter in the mail yet...I'm assuming I got waitlisted too though since I had 2 prereqs left when I applied (just finished one a week ago). I didn't realize how much they weigh whether you completed the all prereqs or not! Oh well...will post on here when I find out. I'm going to see if the advisor will tell me over the phone as I just want the official decision already!

Ok got the call back...didn't get in (not sure if I was waitlisted or rejected though). Oh well, I was expecting that. Congrats Mapie on your acceptance, and good luck to everyone! We'll all get in somewhere. :)

i'm still waiting for mine too...assuming i didn't get in at this point. oh well! does anyone know the deal with the waitlist? Do people ever come off it?

For any other accepted students, there is now a facebook group called "Curry ACCEL Class of 2014" if you would like to join.

Hi Mapie -

Were you placed on the waitlist last year?

Congrats again! and thanks for answering all my questions :o)

No, I was flat-out rejected, but I also only had 2 out of 6 prerequisites done, so I was disappointed but not shocked when I was rejected.

Wow! Totally thought I would be the only one waitlisted on this discussion board (which is why I hadn't been checking since I was not yet ready to see all of the "YAY! I got in!!!" comments). Alas, I let myself be sad for a bit and now I am focusing on the other schools I applied to (MGH, Simmons and Duke). CONGRATS mapie22!!!!!!!!! :) And PennyS I hope to see you at MGH or Simmons...best of luck!!!!!

Sha1723: here is how I think they do it based on everyone's comments. I think they make a pile of applicants that have all of their prereqs complete, a pile of those that have one in progress, a pile of those that have 2 in progress and so forth. From there they go through the first pile and take the top 30 (based on grades and essay). So if there are enough people who applied who have all of their prereqs complete, anyone with classes in progress are sent automatically to the wait list or completely rejected.

This is just my interpretation since I have an undergrad gpa of 3.8, a prereq gpa of 4.0, thought I wrote a decent essay and have nursing experience since I work as a CNA...but was wait listed from what I can only assume to be because I am currently taking stats.

dancingfree-i'm in the same boat...i thought i was well qualified, but was waitlisted. i think it does have a lot to do with prerequisites, as i'd only finished 2 when i handed in my application. oh well, we'll all get in somewhere! do you know anything about the curry waitlist? i've heard that they never take people off it...

good luck with your other apps!

abqbbq - Yes, I've also heard that it is extremely rare to be taken off the waitlist and offered admission. Oh well, my sights are now set on my other schools...and yes we WILL get into a school :)

What other schools have you applied to? I applied to MGH, Duke and Regis ::fingers crossed::

i only applied to curry...oopsie! i just wanted to put some feelers out and am planning on applying to more boston-area schools next year when i'm done with all my prereq's. curry is still my top choice, so i'm hoping that will help. good luck with your other applications! if you don't mind, post where you end up going!
