I am currently in my 5th week of OBLC and still have 4 wks left. If you have any questions please ask and I will try to answer them. Before I started OBLC I did alot of research regarding OBLC and none prepared me for this experience. I am taking pictures and videos of our experience and will put them in photobucket to help others prepare for OBLC. Is very challenging physically and mentally, but is fun as welll.
Cindy, from my experience it has always been unlawful to walk on post (or run....) with headphones in as you are unable to hear oncoming traffic etc.
I've never seen anyone wear headphones during a PT.... 2miles seems far now but over time it will become just another morning run - just a bit faster for your PT test.
Hi JC,
Actually I am a runner and have been for years...I usually run for 1-1.5 hours. That being said, I am not a great sprinter. So, I have been doing "sprints". It has decreased my mile time dramatically.
I don't wear earphones, but I use tiny "earbuds". Maybe, I can use just one earbud--so I can still hear (while listening music).
I don't remember the last time I ran without music----yikes. :)
thanks,
cindy
Olderthendirt2,
Found this - it may be of use to you in future...
Every installation will have additional policy letters that can add to Army regs and policies...many installations prohibit the use of headphones unless you are on a stationary bicycle or running machine... However, several installations allowed the use on the designated tracks.
Many of the policy letters are found on google - and if you know your future destination you can search there... of course the person administering the test can also prohibit the use as it's not anyone's 'right' to wear headphones and may interfere with their PT test.
I personally enjoy listening to music.. However see no reason why any CSM of a post would not have a policy letter banning it as it is a liability and does not really contribute to group PT or any real tangible benefit.....
I didn't say I run well. I said I run faster if someone faster than me is running and I push to keep up. Sometimes it works better than others...I only need a time of 18:42 to make 60 points. Age has a very few but pleasant perks. :deadhorse
:usarm:
If you are 43, I'm pretty sure your time is much slower than 18:42 to make a 60.
I'm not in the Army (my best friend is). I ran a 19:07 2 mile and just for kicks,
looked up how many points I would have had if I were in the Army. I'm 38
and I would have 85 points with that.
Just for kicks, you might want to look it up again.
Best,
Diane

Diane,
You are correct in your point calculations for ages...however you are looking at BeanseyeRN's post and judging him by Female physical fitness standards whereas he is a male and thus has different PT standards.
