Currently in OBLC

WOW!!!! Good for you!!!!!! Those last 4 weeks are going to fly by.... I will be thinking about you !!!!! What is different than you thought???

Were you pretty fit upon arrival??? Are others fit???? I have heard that if you don't pass your PT tests that they make you do PT 5 days a week until you do... and if you don't pass before you leave you have 6 months to pass... Is this true... Just curious???? How long was the process for you to get in??????? Do you share a room with another soilder??? thank you..... take care....

I do share a room with another female but this will be temporary I believe other classes will not have to share they are going thru renovations and this is why we have to share. Is not so bad if you have a good roommate like I do. And yes I suggest you get fit before arriving you will have a PT test the second day here and if you do not pass you will be having PT 5 times a week all approx 4:30 am. They are though but treat you with respect. hey important thing is to be 10 minutes earlier everywhere because in the army on time is consider late. I started to prepare my self physically a few weeks before I got here and still it was though for me. I passed thank god but I feel bad for those who did not. If you don't pass you will have another opportunity a few weeks later to pass. I believe the reserve people can make it up at their unit if they don't pass but active people must pass it ASAP. They army was great about my packet from start of packet to selection board it was 2 months and another month for OBLC. Very fast. Is very active and overwhelming but not too hard. There are many, many, many powerpoint presentation. You will have two exams midterms and final the midterm was not hard if you study we still need the final and I am sure that one will be hard.. Are you going Army active? Please ask all the questions you want it will help you to prepare. Good luck

the Army realizes that everyone is going to be at different fitness levels... But,,, as you said, you should be squared away before arriving. If it all works out, it would be reserves for now. I only have my ADN. Of course after you receive your BSN they would be happy for you to go "active" LOL... They changed up the strap program a bit. If I enroll and start school (BSN), it is possible that I could receive the strap. Or, I could wait and get bonus and loan repayment. I don't think you could get it all... It would be nice.. I was in the Army reserves briefly as a LPN in 1997. Still can't get it out of my blood... Of course most people think that I'm nuts. Too old etc... From what I have read about OBLC it looks like you guys do a lot of the same stuff as basic, but pumped up a lot.. So I know about all of that. I have never been able to run. Even as a child. I got pretty good, but still needed to get better. Sprints helped me a lot. In hindsight I should have recyled and stayed while I was there. I wish you lots of luck. Before you know it you will be graduating... I'm jealous.. (just kidding).

Good Luck to you. I have any a new out look on the enlisted personnel. We only get a fraction of the work, I can only imaging the work they must endure. I was just running and I notice the medics running in their PT uniforms. I am off this weekend they don'y have off they must earn passess and their passess are for a few hours. The army now has a new program for the officers. We have clearing and securing buildings and that is very interesting. I have pictures of OBLC in my photobucket if you would like to see what is like. That is one of the reasons that I thought to myself... hmmmm, if I'm going to go back, better wait until I get my RN. It is all good though. I guess they have a reason for all of it. I am starting Nursing school (for my BSN) and I will be joining the ANCP at that time. I am looking forward to it. Thanks for posting the pictures and the info. What would you say is the hardest part of the OBLC?

Getting adjusted to the field. You will have three weeks out in the field and you will be on the move all the time. Some of yours day will begin at 4:30am and will finish 7 or 8 pm, with the exception of the night navigation you will finish around 12 midnight. LOTS of fun. You will learn alot and the instructors are great, they will help you all the way. I still have 5 weeks left with one more week out on the field. I would do it all over again. Hope info helps. I am currently in my 5th week of OBLC and still have 4 wks left. If you have any questions please ask and I will try to answer them. Before I started OBLC I did alot of research regarding OBLC and none prepared me for this experience. I am taking pictures and videos of our experience and will put them in photobucket to help others prepare for OBLC. Is very challenging physically and mentally, but is fun as welll.

I have heard that past classes when they did there first PT test that 1/3 of the people failed!!! Did you find this??? If someone was having trouble, lets say with the run, what would be the best way to gain that stamina needed??? Please take care...... before you know you will be graduating:yeah::yeah::yeah: :bow:
