I am currently in my 5th week of OBLC and still have 4 wks left. If you have any questions please ask and I will try to answer them. Before I started OBLC I did alot of research regarding OBLC and none prepared me for this experience. I am taking pictures and videos of our experience and will put them in photobucket to help others prepare for OBLC. Is very challenging physically and mentally, but is fun as welll.
You have 2 minutes to do the pushups and 2 minutes to do the sit-ups. The events are usually about 10 minutes apart. Women do have to do regular pushups. They don't have to do as many as men. Check out the link for for the Army APFT http://www.usarec.army.mil/hq/apa/rc/apft.htm. for the requirements.
Hi Scout2505,
I think that website is for enlisted---nearly scared the pants off of me!!
I am using this website for the number of reps, http://www.hooah4health.com/4You/apft.htm
I still haven't seen anywhere that the "toes and hands" is the only version that can be used!

Hello:The APFT is the same for everyone.. depending on your age. It doesn't matter if you are enlisted or officer. You can only go to your knees while resting... and then it's back up.... Hope this helps...
Hi,
I just figured out how to read the chart--alittle slow this morning :)---not so bad after all!
Have a great day

Hi all,
I am going to start an Accelerated BSN program in OCT and am thinking of joining the military when i am done, so i don't really know anything about the process. I am assuming that OBLC is like boot camp? Is that only for army or do air force and navy also have to do it? Just wondering b/c i am slightly concerned about boot camp, just the word scares me!:uhoh21: What do you have to do exactly to pass your PT...like how many push ups ect.
thanks in advance
ps are all the branches created equal when working as a nurse?
For the record, officer boot camp-AKA OBLC, is a LOT different than enlisted boot camp. If you are good following instructions and able to tell right from wrong, then you will do fine. Stick with the prior service ones and you will be fine. The army will not kick you out unless you do something totally stupid and unethical.
Good luck.
Sorry about the last post. I was at work and in a hurry. I meant to ask about PDAs and if they are allowed in military hospitals. Are cell phones allowed if they have a camera? I have a Treo that could be used as a PDA, but I thought I had heard something about not being allowed to bring something like this there.
