Nursing Students Online Learning

This is not really an informative thread I guess, but here it goes. I have been a member her for quite a few years, I think my profile says 2004, but it was before that b/c I was a member here before that but I forgot my old username. And, eventhough I have quite a few issues with it AN, is wat led me to my current path, at Excelsior. Before AN I don't think I had ever even heard of EC.

Anyway, to my point, in all of the time I spent here I've seen a lot of distance students come and go. Some,some stayed at EC but just faded away from ere, some just graduated and left the DL board (CONGRATS to all of them btw), some graduated and left AN completely, and some dropped out and choose a different path and left AN. This also goes for the other DL programs, like Deaconess.

Now, I spend a lot of time just coming to the board and looking. Most of the time I don't have the time to post, sometimes I just like to observe. But, I've noticed that I just don't see the types of posts tat I used to. Or maybe it's just me.

Okay, now really on to my point. I know that this at times can make students feel alone (I know I do). I mean I don't anyone to study with, but just "knowing" who your classmates are is nice. Now there is always EPN for EC students, but I personally don't care for it much (too much to deal with with pop ups and all), and therefore, don't go on it unless I'm am looking for a specific answer (which I usually don't find).

So this thread is just for us all to chime in, so everyone knows they are not alone in our own element of AN so to speak.

I encourage everyone of us to chime in and keep everyone aware of your progress every now and then.

HI sorry, hadn't much time to look up the site. I applied but m waiting for my transcripts to be sent from my univ in malta so that they can give me a quick overview of what subjects i need to do before enrolling. Besides, ECE take years to process papers. They are so slow. Now, after the evaluator came back from like about a week's leave she realized that what she requested from me, was already sent to her. So practically she waisted 1 month of my time and now she said she has another 3weeks to do the whole lot. But anyways, I just thank God for the favor because USA is not very friendly with foreign degrees. They want people to do everything from scratch like I have to do. So what r u up to? DID u enroll?

Yeah - no kidding... I paid ECE for my stuff in sept, and finally received the reports yesterday. Communication and customer service is poor. They finally overnighted 6 reports to me (I paid for 2) when they were telling me they hadn't received my transcripts and I threatened to call the BBB and a lawyer! Sheesh!

They have thousands of students and very little staff to deal with the influx ... they had 4,000 people enroll in September to get in before the deadline for the curriculum changes. I don't think they anticipated that! Hopefully they'll get some more staff so that they can process things a little more quickly. My application evaluation only took about 4 weeks, but that was back in 2006. I had transcripts that had to come from Heidelberg, Germany, so that took a little extra time.

Vida, sounds like you definitely got lost in the shuffle somewhere -- that is a long time!

Hi to all EC students;

Just checking in today, needed a break from studying NC3. I have been picking up extra shifts at the LTC so that I can pay for more courses and the mortgage too, LOL. Keep it up all, we can and are doing this!!!

I passed chronicity. I thought that I failed this test. two hours in, I didn't realize it was a 160 question test, and I was only at 100. I couldn't look at the results when it popped up on the screen, but after coming close to tears, I looked and there it was...... C. :yeah::yeah::yeah: Thanks to everyone here. You guys keep me motivated. I have Repro. next Friday. Wish me well.

Congratulations, you are on your way. :D

I was enrolled in a traditional RN program and dropped out the 3rd semester. I am a CNA and have experience working in LTC (not my cup of tea), ED as a PCT, and clinical rotations from school (med surge, L&D, maternal/couplet, oncology, pediatrics, and more med surge). I completed a nurse externship in OHICU while enrolled in a traditional program. I am waiting to take my CPNE. They tell me possibly in August at the Chambersburg location. A very informative and supportive site. :D

I forgot to tell everyone that I enrolled in May 2006 and took my first exam in September 2006. I had to take Nursing Theory 1-7, Info Tech, and Dev. Psych. My General and Behavioral Psych from my traditional program could not take place of Dev. Psych. I sent in my CPNE application January 2008 and now I am waiting for my date.
