Current/past students...what is your schedule?

Published

Hi, I'm curious what type of schedule I can expect when I'm in school...what days/times, etc? I'm trying to strategize how to fit in work.

Thanks for your help!

Any particular school or program? All are very different.

I am in school Mon-Friday during the day. Not all of it is in the classroom; we do clinicals during the week, too. I work PRN because my school schedule just isn't flexible. But, every program is going to be different. :)

I guess just an example of either the Maricopa accelerated or traditional...I know that you mostly go to school/have clinicals M-Th but was curious of hours.

I'm in the accelerated program and just finished block one. We went M&T 1/2 day, W&TH full lab days. When clinicals started, we stopped going to W&TH lab and just go Friday-12 hours at a hospital. Next block will be different, though. Be flexible and prepared for changes. Good luck!!!

Jeninthedesert and Serenity1, would you guys mind telling us specifially what programs you go to? Thanks in advance.

I am in the RN program at Apollo in Phoenix. I attend school with several classmates who work full-time and are raising children. It's hard, but it can be done! :)

I'm at Estrella Mountain CC RN program.

jeninthedesert...

are you doing prereqs at this time or in your actual nursing blocks?

I was told it was not physically possible to work full time and be in your nursing blocks.

How do you like Apollo Phoenix?

Hello...

Heres a schedule from Mesa CC @ Boswell Nursing Program Block 2:

Monday (Pharm Lab) 0800-1330

TUesday (Theory) 0900-1250

Then every other wednesday and thursday are my clinicals @ the hospital.

not a bad schedule considering a lot of my classmates either has full time jobs, has kids, or both. I just have kids and no job at the time but it can be done either way.

I'm in MCC's traditional program. In block one we did Mon-Thurs. In block II you do either Mon, tues, wed,,,, or you can do tues, wed, thurs. Those days include your clinical days. Don't know about block 3 or 4, haven't got there. I work full time, and have a new baby in the house. It's very tough. But doable ifyou put the time in. Hope this helps. I do have to say that I can study at my job though so that makes it easier.

Hey mxems! So I just got accepted to MCC's nursing program for fall 2009. I was wondering If you remembered when you recieved your information packets. Was it closer to orientation date or earlier?? Thanks for the schedule walk-through!:)
