  1. I am trying to figure out which RN-BSN program to attend, ASU or GCU. I know ASU is a bit cheeper....for now, but i am trying to figure out which program would be more streamlined and best overall. Irish, would you reccommed ASU's RN-BSN program. Sounds like they have a high attrition rate. thoughts?
  2. ah, the good old stethoscope controversy. you will ask this question to 100 different nurses and get 125 different answers on what you should do.....my advice, stick with the cheap one. a good stethoscope doesn't define a nurse in any way. i have seen nurses with $400 scopes around their neck, and they never actually use it...almost more of a fashion statement. besides, if i spent that much on a stethoscope i would pry have to take out an insurance policy on it, in case it becomes lost or damaged, which it probably will. as long as you use the one around your neck, you are good to go. my two cents
  3. I read from several different sites stating that the mother had pulmonary htn d/t the 11 week old child. i am curious why the only option of saving the mothers life was to kill the child....any L&D nurses have some insight on other possible treatments or if this is a common, or rare occurrence? Thanks.
  4. awwwwwwwww! How touching...snif.
  5. Jeninthedesert and Serenity1, would you guys mind telling us specifially what programs you go to? Thanks in advance.
  6. congrats snarfgirl on graduating soon! i was just wondering what program you are graduating from; i think i read from one of your posts that you said gcc. is that glendale or gateway, or am i wrong all together? either way could you please shed some light (for some of us waiting for fall 2009 placement) on how you felt about your program. specifically your level of preparedness, schedule, clinical rotations, and hospitals you worked with. thank you in advance for your reply.
  7. I called the nursing hotline yesterday about when the placement capacities would go up, and the lady there told me that they are still waiting for all of the colleges to submit their numbers to them. She said hopefully sometime next week we would see those numbers. On a side note, i aked her if there would be less spots open this semester compaired to previous fall semesters, and she replied that she hadent heard anything regarding fewer placement capacities.
  8. If you dont mind me asking, what program were you in that did a preceptorship at mayo?
  9. I think that there will still be lots of deferrals. Does anyone else find it weird that the most recent person selected had there time stamp from SUNDAY october 21st 2007. I wonder if that is a mistake, or if they really turned in there application on SUNDAY. Thoughts?
  10. I'm in the same boat as you guys. Right now i just have my hopes in lots of deferrals, and God.
  11. good point azsamantha about the ASU nursing students. I have a quick question. I thought you were gonna put down Mesa Boswell as one of your choices. If you did put it as a choice, i dont understand why you were not placed. A student with a time stamp of august 29th got placed there. Even so you will get in for sure this semester (Spring 09), your are pry like the next person in line. As for us October time stamps, all we can do is Pray. Good luck everyone, november 4th will be an interesting day, LOL.
  12. While there was 97 deferrals last semester, so hopefully there will be more this semester. I just kinda am at a stand still, because i can not take any more classes, and i hate just sitting around with my thumbs up my butt. I just want to get my RN, but lately the process just really sucks.
  13. they normally draw every 2 weeks, november 4th is a tuesday that is 2 weeks from now. I agree, i have such a ****** taste in my mouth as well.
  14. Yea, it kinda feels like getting kicked in the gut, over and over again. I will get my hopes up for november 4th nursing draw, and pry just repete the disappointment process again.
  15. hahaha, i have been checking like every 2 minutes as well. I am sooooo nervious right now.
