curious about nursing

hi everyone! i just changed my major over to nursing this past february or march, and i think i might like being one. however, i am kinda curious of everything i need to know and what is expected of a nurse and a student. (i wont enter a program until i transfer to uab in 2009 or '10). could someone give me an idea of a typical day of what its like to be a nurse? there are quite a few nurses at my church, but i don't ever have the time to ask questions, plus i usually don't remember anyways! everyone i know (except my mother) thinks its a good idea and that i'd be a great nurse! i'm a first generation college student in my family (started in '07! and don't regret it at all). but any, or a whole lot of advice or just anything will be greatly appreciated!!!! thanks:d:wink2::)

You probably should have looked more into this before changing your major in February or March.

i have looked into it. i just want some additional info.

I can't tell you what a typical day is like for a nurse, because i haven't finished school yet, but I can tell you a little about being a nursing student. It is expected that I show up for class on time, pay attention, be professional in clinicals, have an open mind and willingness to learn, use common sense, not be afraid to try new skills, ask lots of questions and be prepared. They don't expect you to know everything, but as long as you're willing to learn and prepared you'll be fine.

Oh yeah, and be prepared to read and study ALOT. I have also managed to have a lot of fun and make great friends along the way.
