Hey guyz, wanted to start a NEW thread for CUNY York 2011/2012. I don't see much info on allnurses about the program. Anyone out there willing to share thier experiences?...I know that the generic program is fairly new. Just wanted to hear feed back...pro's & con's. I've applied to the school, I've taken ALL pre-req's for a 2 year nursing program...now the game has changed , for this school is a 4 year program! Anyone else applying to CUNY York? Thanx...

Hi! I'm looking into all the 4 year nursing programs in NY and I never heard of this one. Have you heard from anyone who goes to this school?

I have done some research about York. It's a CUNY and there are 2 campuses. There's one in Jamaica Queens and another in Midtown Manhattan.
I emailed the director (on July 6) asking the following questions:
1- What is the deadline for the program? Can I enroll as a transfer student?
2 - How many pre-reqs need to be completed before the beginning of the program?
3- How many of my previous credits can be transferred to begin the BSN program?
This was her response
all students must
1. be admitted to York Colege
2. Have the York College registrar evaluate official transcripts from other programs.
after these two steps you can call 718 262 2504 for an appointment. Bring the registrar's evaluation and transcripts to your appointment.
It is not possible to advise students until the above steps are completed.
It's frustrating because York is not admitting new students. ALso - is it that difficult to tell a student what the deadline is for the program??
Any other experiences?

Im currently attending York College and hoping to pursue my degree in Nursing. The generic program is fairly new but the RN to BSN program isn't. As an insider, i heard the Nursing Department is a bit delayed with responding and that the program is a bit disorganized but I'm referring to the RN to BSN program not the Generic. My best advice is to go to the school and speak to the Nursing Department in person. Although, you have applied to the school if you are accepted it does not mean you are accepted to the program. Once you are transferred into the school you might have to complete a few more classes since this program is a 4 year and all schools have a different curriculum. For example, I attended Hunter College and they were making me take Organic Chemistry where at York College i do not have to take those courses. Once again, best thing to do is speak to the Nursing Department. You can make an appointment and speak to an advisor. Best of Luck =)

Hi Ambition417, I just wanted to know if you are liking the program at York. I was accepted into Hunter (pre nursing) but is somewhat afraid of Organic Chemistry. I am thinking of transfering to York. Any info is appreciated.
Thanks.

Does anyone know what York's NCLEX pass rate is? I've done a little online sleuthing and can't seem to find anything...
I took all my prerequisites at Hunter, couldn't get into their program, gave up and am thinking about trying here. How hard is it to get in? How many drop out? Good professors? Any info greatly appreciated!
