Hey everyone - so I failed the nclex on my first shot at 75 questions (ouch). I don't know exactly where or how to start studying and I already feel like I'll fail the next time since I've been slacking. To give some background - I studied for hours upon hours a day using Kaplan the first time around, doing all the test banks, question trainers and remediation. I also used the 35 page review that's floating around on here. I don't know if I fully learned how to think like a nurse. I definitely didn't learn anything of the sort in my nursing school. Where should I start again? I feel so lost, tired and overwhelmed.

Congratulations!! I was wondering - did you make up your own qbank tests to re-do incorrect questions you and remediate those before moving onto the question trainers? Thanks!!

I'm currently applying to a few of those schools (NYU, LIU, Downstate) as well as a few others (CMSV & other undetermined ones - possibly concordia, molloy etc). My GPA was a 3.2 as an undergrad and with my pre-req's it's prob about the same. I had previously applied to Downstate & Pace (while still completing my pre-reqs). I didn't get into either school, and that was a blow to me. I met with Downstate and I was deemed not as competitive when compared to my peers who had COMPLETED their pre-reqs prior to applying. I'd suggest applying as early as possible because seats fill up fast. Some schools will let you complete pre-reqs at the institution (you'd just hold off on clinicals). NYU is known to do that - I know a few people who got accepted with 0-1 completed prereqs. There is just a HUGE price tag attached. Good Luck.

Opera, I'm taking classes at BMCC - and its cheap. You should enroll as a second degree student no matter where you go, that way you won't be registering the day before classes start.

Snowybee- Are you attending CMSV currently? I wanted to hear about your experience as I'm waiting to hear back from the school....

I have done some research about York. It's a CUNY and there are 2 campuses. There's one in Jamaica Queens and another in Midtown Manhattan. I emailed the director (on July 6) asking the following questions: 1- What is the deadline for the program? Can I enroll as a transfer student? 2 - How many pre-reqs need to be completed before the beginning of the program? 3- How many of my previous credits can be transferred to begin the BSN program? This was her response all students must 1. be admitted to York Colege 2. Have the York College registrar evaluate official transcripts from other programs. after these two steps you can call 718 262 2504 for an appointment. Bring the registrar's evaluation and transcripts to your appointment. It is not possible to advise students until the above steps are completed. It's frustrating because York is not admitting new students. ALso - is it that difficult to tell a student what the deadline is for the program?? Any other experiences?
