Hi! Is anyone else applying for the Accelerated Prog. for Fall 2011?
Hi Everyone!
I applied to Hunter for the A2DP as well, and just read all of your posts, it's nice to hear input from others in the same situation! I have been biting my nails for weeks, why is it is soooo difficult to be patient??? Just wanted to share some info about what I have heard about other applicants...
The highest NLN score I heard about was a 153!!!! Not to discourage myself or anyone else, but I guess that leaves 31 seats open now.
However! Since I am obsessed, I did look at our courses for the fall, and there are 140 seats for each class. Since there will be 100 generic pathway students, MAYBE there will be 40 seats for us?? I know they said 32, but they do seem to change some things on a whim. Fingers crossed...
Good luck to all of us in this final stretch of waiting for an answer! I hope we will be classmates this Fall.
I just got the acceptance email for CUNY hunter itself!!!!!!! Now I am confused if I should pay $100 deposit or not........cuz I am still waiting to hear the nursing dept. decision...
I am going to try to talk to the admissions people tomorrow to find out what to do about this...
Should I pay or no????
Thanks Titimena10. im going to call both Cuny-hunter admission and nursing dept. to make sure whats up with this $100 deposit.....I will let you know!!!!
On my acceptance letter, it says
"On your application, you indicated an interest in our upper-level Nursing program. Before you can be considered for the Nursing program, a specified liberal arts sequence of courses, as well as the National League for Nursing examination, is required. The program is extremely competitive and only students who have achieved academic excellence will be considered. In Fall 2010 there were 298 applicants and only 112 were accepted. Most of the admitted students had a cumulative G.P.A. bordering 3.5"
did your acceptance letter say this too??? Just wondering. and I wonder how many were accepted as accelerated students out of 112 accepted students..
For those of you that are transferring into Hunter... did you guys get your transcript evaluations yet? I transferred to Hunter in Sept. '09, with a Bachelor's from another University, and even with my degree I had MANY unfulfilled general requirements. Most of my degree courses transferred in as electives and there is a writing course requirement for students transferring in with 90+ credits.
I may be stupidly stating the obvious here, but just wanted to ask, because I found all of it rather shocking at the time. If there are any classes that you have to take before entering the nursing program, you may want to secure your admission just in case you might be able to get these out of the way this summer? If you can take classes in the summer as a transfer.
Sorry if that's not very helpful, but that was my experience, and I am finishing up ALL of their lower division requirements now, four semesters and a summer later. So much for my degree!
And this waiting is AGONY!!!!
hey everyone, this is my first time posting. I am applying as an accelerated second degree student and i also got accepted as a transfer into Hunter College. This morning I called the nursing department and one of the counselors told me that I need to pay the deposit in order to secure a spot in Hunter and for the nursing committee to review my app.
ione, i have not gotten my transcript evaluated yet but I was under the impression that you only needed to take certain required pre-reqs (chem, microbio, etc) if you had a previous degree. What are these other courses that u've been taking for four semesters??? Now I'm worried that I might not have them fulfilled either...

Hi! This must be an exciting time for all. I'm looking forward to hearing from Hunter within the next couple of days. Has anyone paid the 100 dollars that was mentioned earlier in this thread? I've been trying to contact CUNY directly since yesterday but for some reason the automated system says "All Agents are Busy" and then disconnects the call. I think it might be because of Spring Break, the CUNY reps are probably on vacation. :)
