Hi! Is anyone else applying for the Accelerated Prog. for Fall 2011?
Hey guys,
I just saw this on the Hunter nursing site.
NOTE: Admissions decisions and interviews will be conducted the first week of May. No information regarding admission will be given by phone or email prior to then.
I didn't know they were going to do interviews... makes me more nervous now..

Yeah, I knew they were going to give interviews.I'm not so nervous about the interview as I am about getting it. I really hope I get an interview so I can get in and fulfill my dream of being a nurse! We have to wait a whole other month! I thought we would have known by now.
Hope I am taking Hunter's general electives for a reason and that I am not just wasting my time.

Interviews aren't anything new. Many nursing schools past and present do them and they can be a good thing.
For one it gives the applicant a chance to explain any parts of their application that could be found wanting. Another is allowing a face to become attached to the name which is always a good thing. This allows the person or persons making admitting decisions to see more of a person than what comes across on paper.
Cannot be stressed enough with high unemployment and other factors nursing is still being shouted from the house tops as a good career choice. CUNY nursing programs because of their cost are for some the only option, for others it simply represents good value for money. This has lead to a huge demand for entry, which is probably one of the reasons the interview was added to the admitting process.
I applied and I'm currently taking my last three pre-reqs for entry into the accelerated program. This is my second semester at Hunter. I already have a BS in biology but they said I needed to take a few elective courses. I'm so worried I may not get accepted because I had a composite score of 127. With only 32 students being accepted, it's going to be tough to get into. If I don't get in, it would be a year wasted at Hunter taking these courses. But, I'm going to apply to other schools.

Wow that seems tough, only 32. And only the scores.
Does anyone know how many apply each year? On average?
