Hi! Is anyone else applying for the Accelerated Prog. for Fall 2011?
Oh true then i think she said in April.. i went to the info session and i thought i heard her say we find out earlier than last yr and than the generic also . was the average a 140 for both programs or only the accelerated applicants? i didn't calculate my pre-req gpa i think its much lower =(. are they going to really look at it separately? i think that's unfair since the pre-req classes at hunter were much harder than at other cunys schools
Yeah they are aiming to make the decisions final by early April. That's what they said they were hoping anyway. I am not sure if the average composite was 140 for the generic program but I know it is for the accelerated. They also said at the info session that you can't apply for both programs. I am not sure if they will look at the pre-req GPA or not, maybe they will if it is between two people with the same composite NLN and GPA score.
Yea it's tough to say because it's like insider information. I only asked about the accelerated because I already have a degree. I was gonna do the genetic at hunter but figured I might as well do a science degree in case I need a lab job, which I do now. It's also hard to tell who got in with what because not everyone posts and not everyone is gonna tell their friends what their honest GPA/score is because they might be embarrassed. So you never know. As a backup there's another school in NY on the nursing CAS that you can apply to just in case. I'd I don't get in this year I would probably study my anatomy book and SAT words and also take the paper version.
Hey cat,I did the references part and professional experience part not the personal statement part, but that was before that information session that we had this past week (I dont know if you were there) but they said that we don't need to fill in that stuff because they are only looking at the GPA and NLN scores. Personally, I think that Hunter should look at that stuff too because it demonstrates passion for the field instead of just your performance on a standardized test but hey, what do I know.
I keep e-mailing Ms. ***** to try and figure out if Hunter needs everything processed by the 25th on nursing cas or just sent in to nursing cas by the 25th. Since they just told us about this new application and the application takes so long to process I am thinking it just needs to be sent in by the 25th. I'll let you guys know if Ms. ***** answers my question.
What classes are you guys taking this semester?
Did Ms. **** reply back to you? I called the nursing cas customer service about if the transcript needs to be processed or postmarked by the 25th and she said she does not know and it depends on Hunter. If it needs to be processed then im screwed!
Hey cat,
I asked ms. *** the question several different ways several different times and all she could give me was a vague answer of "the best thing for you to do would be to get your transcripts in as soon as possible" :smackingf
no answer as to the deadline meaning postmarked by or processed by.
My take on it was that as long as it was sent in by the 25th it would be fine. I don't even think they know what they are doing.
sorry it took me so long to respond,
what they told us at the info session was this:
they take your gpa and composite score -- average them, put everyone's scores in an excel spread sheet and rank them ... only 32 people are granted admission...
doesn't that just make you feel so confident :uhoh21: haha

I wish I took the paper version. My GPA is around a 3.48 or so. I haven't calculated it because I transferred from Lehman a while ago then graduated from hunter with a BA In chemistry. What's your stats?
