Has anyone seen this addendum on the nursing curriculum packet page 9 for the 2017-2018 school year? I'm really, really hoping they're not adding any more prerequisites because I'm chomping at the bit to leave my current career and another year would be so hard!
"Based upon current curriculum planning these course requirements may change slightly, once finalized a transition plan will be put into place."
Hey all.
I applied to Gateway as my first choice, Norwalk as my second.
Nursing GPA 3.8
A&P I Grade: A
TEAS V: 84.7%
From what I understand, to be accepted into your college of 2nd choice the school needs to exhaust its entire waiting list first. This seems pretty unlikely to happen given the sheer number of applicants.
Also, correct me if I am wrong but I don't think A&PI is factored into your Nursing GPA. I think it is calculated separately as part of your ranking, no?
Best of luck to us all!
@jackbenimble - another male applying to gateway...good to see that there are others. I agree with you that getting offered a seat in the program at your second school of choice isn't impossible, but is rather unlikely. However, I am pretty sure that they do use A/P1 when calculating the nursing GPA due to the fact that it is a pre requisite for acceptance into the program, and all pre requisites taken at the time of applying are used when calculating the 'nursing GPA'. The rank system is entirely separate in that they use your A/P1 grade (25%), your TEAS score (25%) and your calculated nursing GPA (50%) to systematically scale the applicants so that they can offer the most desirable students the first seats and work their way down from there.
