Can anyone recap the virtual orientation? Will there be clinical for the fall semester? Will the semester be online? Thanks!

It will be like a hybrid. Live remote Monday and Tuesdays them labs at the school and clinical at a location.

People on the waitlist get ready. Anyone older, immunosuppressive or with comorbities are going to have to drop out because there is no way in hell it makes sense to be in a clinical location this fall. That really sucks. After 4 years of working to get in, getting in last year off the waitlist at the last minute and deciding to wait to get micro done, I am probably going to have to quit and reapply next year.

I think you’re being a bit dramatic. Sorry if that comes off rude. I understand why you’re panicking, but I think it’s a little unwarranted.

I’m immunocompromised and work at the hospital. I highly doubt they will give you Covid positive patients as a student. I haven’t seen it happen and it wouldn’t be wise on the facility’s part. Even if they for some reason tried to pull that, you can get out of it with a note from your doctor. They put me on the Covid floor (I have respiratory and heart problems) and after one shift wearing that N95, I called my doctor and said I didn’t feel comfortable working there because 1. The exposure and 2. The mask was making me feel really weak and wheeze/cough for days after wearing it.

The hospital had no choice but to relocate me. They can’t discriminate.

And think of it this way — if you were already a nurse, you’d have no choice but to be working around it. That’s the reality of this field and there are always going to be patients with airborne and droplet spread illnesses if you’re working on the floor.

That’s actually not true. There are lots of careers in nursing that would not require being in contact with folks likely to be infected. I’m interested in surgery. And yes. I’m on drugs that lower immunity because I have an autoimmune disease and in addition I am old. I may be the oldest in my class. In addition, this is a second career for me that I am choosing because I’m interested in it rather than because I need money. If I was already a nurse last Spring and I was in a dangerous position I would have just taken a sabbatical. Which I may have to do now until there is a vaccine. My wife does not have to go to the office anymore. We have everything delivered rather than go inside. Our parents need help from us regularly and are in their 80’s. It’s not nice to call someone dramatic when you don’t know their situation.

I said “if you’re working on the floor.” The vast majority of new grads are on the floor. And I apologized for coming off rude before anyone could say I am. It does not make sense to me to aim to become a nurse, yet be in terrible fear of a virus, so much so that you’d jump to not accepting your seat in the program before considering more rational options.

Best of luck to you and your family.

Not all viruses. Just this one. Not enough is known about it.

CONGRATS on getting in again. Due to the fact you’re already an LPN. Will you be starting in the fall as a freshmen(First semester) or junior (third semester). Just keep in mind third semester is the hardest of them all.

Congratulations to those that got off the waitlist! ♥️

Update for NVCC waitlist: I emailed the nursing admission contact, the current number of students taken off the waitlist is 21. The next student to be called off is 22! I’m very excited given that I’m number 26. Good luck to everyone accepted or waiting to hear back!

Good luck I hope you get in. NVCC has 5 spots left, and potentially more if anyone forfeit their seat.

First of all - CONGRATS to all of you that got in!

curious - at what point did you all take the TEAS exam? It’s looking like it will be offered remotely and there’s dates up to the beginning of July. Wondering if I should just take it now or wait for later dates.

I will be submitting my application this fall.

Thanks and CONGRATS again!
