CSUSM ABSN Summer 2021

Anyone planning on applying to CSUSM's ABSN for Summer of 2021? I know it's early, but their priority deadline is Septmber 30th, 2020. I was hoping we could consolidate questions/info on this thread as we go along.

I have one more prereq to go (anatomy this Summer) before my app is complete. Where is everyone else at in the process?

Hi everyone and congratulations! So, I haven't really been active on this site, but thanks to everyone who has been. I found out about it a month or two ago and would check for updates. So, thanks :)

In regard to those who have accepted and haven't received an email, I cannot find a specific deadline for the drug test and background check. Here is what is written in that section: 

Quote

One of the conditions is the successful completion of a drug screen and background check including, statewide, county and federal screening. Background checks are required of all individuals seeking a nursing license in the State of California. Students who have reason to believe that a background check would reveal a prior misdemeanor or felony should seek to have these matters expunged from their record if possible. Failure to remove flags will result in the cancellation of your admission offer at which time you will need to postpone entry to the program.  Additionally, failure to pass the drug screen may also result in the immediate cancellation of your admission offer.

It seems like the 2 week deadline is in regard to submitting a deposit and officially accepting through MyCSUSM, 

Quote

To confirm your admission and reserve your seat in the program, you must officially accept your offer of admission and submit your non-refundable $150 Enrollment Deposit online within 2 weeks of receiving this offer letter. To accept your offer of admission and submit your enrollment deposit...

At least that's what I'm hoping. I'll try to contact them to ask about that and if I hear anything I'll let you guys know. Please let me know if you all hear anything too:)

You will receive all other communication that the system sends as well as any manual emails we send to the cohort. 

The background and drug screen information will be sent out in a couple weeks. 
 

 

that’s what I got when I emailed my counselor so I think we should be good! She said I didn’t receive the initial email because I accepted before it could be sent out.

I was told we would hear back by today regarding the second wave....no luck so far ?

I think I read somewhere if there's a tie then they just randomly pick who gets in? Hang in there! Hopefully you get a spot

Ahhhh! Okay fingers crossed! We’re so close! In the past they do more than one round of acceptances it seems like but I’m just so nervous cuz I feel like more people applied this cohort since Fall 2020 got delayed to Spring 2021.

@bmancilla21 thanks for that info! I was wondering since I saw a few 36 point people post that they received their acceptances first round. I wasn’t sure if maybe the did it by who applied first but that makes more sense with it being random lottery.

My portal updated as admitted!! I haven’t received an email yet though.

Congratulations! Don't accept until you get the email LOL I accepted early and it never sent out my email

My portal says I am admitted too!! I will be giving up my spot here to attend another school though. Congrats to everyone!
