CSUSM ABSN Summer 2020

Updated:   Published

Hi all,

Looking to apply this month for Summer 2020! Anyone else on the same boat? I am currently taking my last class so I expect to update my transcript when grades are posted mid-Decemeber. Anyone from previous cohorts had an issue with this?

I'm a little anxious about my points- I'm in the low 30s but hopefully it will be less competitive in Summer/fall!

They told me in an email that they hoped to send out the first wave out next week!

Thank you! Fingers crossed and good luck everyone!

My advisor also told me today they hope to start first round of offers in about a week! Good luck everyone!

I'm dying to find out already ? ? good luck everyone!

SAME! Is anyone else applying to cal state fullerton or UC irvine?

Specializes in NICU.

Hi all! I was just wondering if there are any points that can be rewarded beyond the point system pdf on the website...."bonus points" so to speak. For example, other nursing programs offer points for being the spouse of a veteran, or for speaking another language, or for having completed a CNA program, etc. I know someone applying to CSUSM who thinks she'll get extra points for "living close to campus" and that sounds wild to me. Does anyone know anything about this?

Also, is it your first TEAS score that is considered, or can you retake it for a better score to up your point total?

Just trying to think ahead. If I'm not selected for this cohort, I might need to get creative to get my score up.

Thanks in advance!

I haven't heard of any "bonus points" rewarded beyond the system. They weren't mentioned in the informations session I attended last year. Points should be solely based on the three criteria: TEAS, prereqs, and last 60 units.

You can retake your TEAS as many times as you want! They will take your highest score ? If you plan on retaking it, email an advisor your TEAS score so he/she can update and send you a new evaluation. They respond fairly quickly.

No, there are no extra points for CSUSM. I know a lot of schools do have them but this program only takes TEAS score and grades. Your friend won’t get any extra either. I graduated from CSUSM the first time around and I didn’t get any extra. Retaking your TEAS and either retaking a core class you got a C in or taking another high unit course to up your GPA is the best way to get more points. It also depends on the semester from what I know most people in spring had high 30’s or 40’s and 34 seemed to be the lowest, but other semesters have been less competitive.

I just got my eval and got 32 points I’m really hoping I get in next week agh. Hoping that’s just high enough to get me through. Why can’t think just send out acceptances already?

I know!! It's been such a long road getting here, and I'm so eager to see what happens. Good luck!

Hey folks,

I’m a current ABSN student at CSUSM Temecula. I also work at the Temecula campus. Let me know if you have any questions. I remember very little about the application process but can answer questions about the program ?

Good luck with your applications!

Hi there!

Thank you for offering your help! I have a question about the first semester. Can you tell me where the first three classes (ANTH 301, BIOL 323, PHIL 345) are offered? Is it strictly taken at the campus we are accepted into and/or are these classes available online? I live in Orange County and wondering if commuting the first semester is doable.

You take them on campus. I think it is usually split between two days. Anthro and Nutrition one day, ethics another day. Many people commute the first semester and some still continue to commute throughout the entirety of the program.
