CSUSM ABSN Summer 2020

Updated:   Published

Hi all,

Looking to apply this month for Summer 2020! Anyone else on the same boat? I am currently taking my last class so I expect to update my transcript when grades are posted mid-Decemeber. Anyone from previous cohorts had an issue with this?

I'm a little anxious about my points- I'm in the low 30s but hopefully it will be less competitive in Summer/fall!

I actually just got my point evaluation! I think because I’m graduating this May, people who are still working on their Bachelor’s will be the last to know if they got in! But my point evaluation is 36! I hope it’s enough ? Good luck everyone!

oh wow that's so frustrating, 36 points is well above the point average for the past fall cohort so I'm sure you'll get in, how late is last to know though ?

So, when I had called a month back, a really helpful lady told me that since my Bachelor’s is still in progress, I wouldn’t get my evaluation as soon as others (who have the pre-reqs and have their degree conferred). As for finding out when/if I get in, she said that admissions are broken into rounds (I think she said 3 rounds). Since my application is technically incomplete without my conferred degree, I believe she told me I’m not necessarily eligible for admissions for the 1st round. The bummer: because of this, she said I would most likely find out about my admission status (or not) after the 3rd round depending on how many people accepted their offer and how many spots are available for those who declined. Essentially, she said I would potentially get any left over seat ? For that reason, she said it’s possible that someone with 32 points (just an example!) would get accepted into the program and someone with 37 might not. I’m sorry if my grammar was all over the place!

oh wow, I didn't know that. I'm also graduating this spring, but I received my evaluation December 19

Ok so to help clarify, I was told By my admissions counselor (Fina Nalls) that the fact that you are still working on your bachelors does not put you behind others. It’s the ones who have prereqs in progress that will be pushed back to the last round. I just graduated with my bachelors in dec 2019 and I asked if mY transcript needs to be submitted showing my bachelors completed before they make decisions to avoid being pushed back in the rounds and she said no. It will not effect where I’m at on the rounds. My school hadn’t posted my completion yet so I was worried which is why asked her. Hope this helped. Best of luck everyone!

Ahh, you know what... maybe she thought I wasn’t done with my pre-requisites when I had called. I’m sorry about the wrong information! I think Carlsbad74 is right! Now I wonder why my evaluation didn’t come in until today...

Sorry!!! I didn’t mean to scare ya! Now I’m nervous if I’m going to get in during the first round since I thought my application was pushed back!

The evaluation that was sent to us said that you only receive your total points if you've completed all your pre-reqs and have a passing TEAS, so I'm assuming that if you know your point total, you're good? Plus, 36 is a solid amount of points. I'm sure you'll get in!

On another note, did anyone else see the super high point averages for the spring cohort, holy crap.

I saw that!! How crazy! I'm hoping this summer cohort didn't jump that much..

Wow!! Looks like spring is getting even more competitive than it already was. I'm also hoping summer won't jump as much! ?

That's a huge jump! I know that the spring cohort of the ABSN program at CSUN had a historically high number of applicants as well.
