CSUSM ABSN Fall 2021

Hi all, anyone planning on applying to CSUSM's ABSN for Fall of 2021? 

I think my overall points are between 40-41, do you think it's a safe score? I was wondering if I should take the TEAS exam again, I got 80.7, but I'm completely exhausted. I completed all the 8 prerequisites courses and TEAS in only 12 months and I need some rest, LOL

When I got my evaluation, it was sent to my personal email. I would definitely follow up with them about your evaluations though, since it seems like they sometimes send emails to the wrong addresses. It happened to me when they sent me an email regarding a Summer ‘21 start date. They said they sent me an email about it but I never received anything in my email, spam, or trash. Hopefully they’ll be able to give you your evaluations soon! Crazy that they haven’t finished yet....

@koverny Wow can't believe they sent it to the wrong person! ? They are more swamped than ever and I feel like those mistakes could definitely happening for some. Thank you for letting us know about your experience with it. I just emailed them so hopefully, I'll hear back from someone soon.

Hi to anyone else waiting for their evaluation. Just an update here. I received an email to my personal address with my evaluation attached. I previously emailed them asking about it on June 3rd, and I received the evaluation yesterday June 7th.  I didn't apply as an international student but my bachelor's is foreign, so they said the international department was evaluating it. I got 38 pts which is less than what I hoped for but I'm glad I know now! Hope everyone else gets theirs soon too.

Anyone know if there are still spots left for this cohort? I emailed my advisor last week to ask if they are still accepting for Fall 2021, but I didn’t get a response. I want to register for Summer classes to improve my stats, but only if I need to!

I got accepted somewhere else so I’m withdrawing. To be honest I’m disappointed in their myopic approach. Their “score sheet” has no accounting for

  • Real Life
  • fluency in other languages 
  • work experience
  • other degrees or certificates

I think they will get great students but I worry that some don’t have the fortitude for the program. I’ve been told of a student who dropped in 2018/2019 out because she couldn’t deal with Labor and Delivery since she had her own personal and/or philosophical opinions about obstetrics. (A patient was doing IVF and selectively reduced the number of embryos. The nursing student couldnt handle it due to her own infertility issues.)    
 

or the nursing student who couldn’t handle the rigor and dropped Out because she was missing time and milestones with her young children. 
That’s the kind of thing not contemplated by the “score” and where an interview might have helped better further narrow the Selection.

I got accepted on 5/26 with 44 points. They gave me 2 weeks to accept my offer, but I will not be accepting it. Yesterday was the end of the two weeks, so I think that there should be at least one more spot open for one of you!

I got admitted this morning!! Received an email to my personal around 5am and it's a conditional offer depending on whether you pass the drug screen and background check. Need to accept within 2 weeks. I really did not think I would get in this time and had already started to think about going the ADN route, so I am OVER THE MOON! I hope many others received the same news here ?

Yay that’s fantastic news ?

I got my evaluation sheet back but was not given a score because I have not yet submitted my TEAS score. I’ve had to focus on family (three kids) so I’m not sure I’m going to make it this round.

Thank you @nattherat ! Ah I see, but you’re focusing on what is important  to you at this point and it is totally valid to delay the process! These programs will still be here when you’re ready! We’ll all get where we are want to be and it’s OK to take the time.

Congrats to everyone who got accepted! Do you guys know where the clinical sites are going to be by any chance? 

I got an acceptance letter yesterday as well. I'm trying to figure out whether I need to move closer to the campus since I live in the LA county. When attending the info session back in February, the faculty said that it could be anywhere in between Riverside area to San Diego. But that's a lot of areas to locate where to move. Any info you could share will be much appreciated!

Congratulations! Would you mind sharing how many points you got on your evaluation? I'm excited for this new chapter for you!
