Hi all! I'm a bit surprised I couldn't find a thread already started on this, so I finally decided to join AllNurses and start it myself :)
As many may have discovered by now, the prerequisites for CSU San Bernardino's nursing program have changed:
1. BIOL 220 (Microbiology)
2. BIOL 223 (Anatomy & Physiology I)
3. BIOL 224 (Anatomy & Physiology II)
4. CHEM 205 (Fundamentals of Chemistry: General Chemistry)
5. COMM 120 or Hon 104C 9Oral Communication)
6. CRITICAL THINKING
7. ENG 107, 104a, 104b, or 106 (Freshman Composition)
8. MATH 115 (Ideas of Math)
As such, I felt as if I couldn't look to previous average acceptance scores and GPAs to measure the probability I'll be accepted.
This thread is for anyone who has applied for Fall 2013 (let's share the anxiety of waiting for letters, lol), anyone who has questions about applying to CSUSB's BSN program in general, or anyone who has been accepted and would be so kind as to offer advice (please?).
Thanks in advance, and good luck to all!
I thought someone posted the list on the Winter 2013 thread as a link and there was no problem, but if anyone does want to give me their email addresses, I'll gladly email you. Starting July, I'll probably try to stop by campus once a week to see if it's been posted (not taking summer school).
On a side note, does anyone know if nursing classes are offered during the summer? I tried to lay out a map of my graduation plan, but because I've finished everything except the actual nursing classes you can only take when in the program, I can't graduate until at least 3 full years after acceptance. All the while, I'd be stuck with 8-unit quarters because of each class's prerequisite requirements.
@liuyingjun: Welcome! Unless people start receiving their acceptance letters in the next two weeks, I doubt we'll even get a glimpse into the rankings until the actual list is posted. Thankfully, though, this month has been flying by pretty quickly. Good luck to you!
Hmm I don't know, I just looked back at the thread for Winter 2013 and the administration for this website posted something after the photo saying not to. I think this was on page 6... But even if we can't post it on here, I definitely want to hear from everyone on here who got in!
Anyways, I am so excited! July is so close now!!
@jasmic: No, I've got all my eggs in one basket right now. Don't get me wrong, I would LOVE to attend LLU or even CBU, but I can't wrap my mind around their tuition. I've always been a thrifty shopper and I have heart palpitations when I think of spending so much money for a degree. CSUSB's tuition makes me A LOT more comfortable (the last thing I want is to worry about how much money I'm spending while I'm in such an intense program.)
Also, thank you for your offer of emailing us... that's super sweet of you. My email address is: [email protected] (so much for being anonymous!)
Again, good luck to all of you. I think about getting into this program every morning when I get up, when I'm going to bed at night, and a million times in between!
Oh, before I forget - did any of you get that email from the school that said "On behalf of the Nursing Department I'd like to welcome you to CSUSB.... Make an appointment with a department advisor to map out what classes to take..." I called the nursing department and the email is just from the school, not the department, and it is not an indication of your acceptance. I wonder if they know the false hope that email gave a lot of us sitting here waiting and hoping for good news!
Thank you, am90, for the orientation info! I hope we can all plan on meeting there after seeing the list in the coming weeks. I have my COPE interview tomorrow, and if they accept me, rotations begin August 1st. Hopefully that program is as flexible as I hear, though.
@Hopeful4it: I hear you. I've already used too much in loans since I transferred to CSUSB. It almost seems unthinkable to me to attend anywhere else when I've invested so much time and money here.
I thought there was private messaging on this site; I'm sorry you had to post your email publicly! I don't mind my secondary email being known, so anyone who would like the picture, please email [email protected].
@am90, Thank you so much for posting the orientation information. That's very nice of you!
@Hopeful4it, I also received that email! Haha I know, when I got that e-mail it made me a little nervous, but I figured it was just sent to everyone. I'm glad you called and made sure though!
@Jasmic, Thank you so much for allowing us to email you! It's really appreciated! I will probably send you an e-mail in early July so my email doesn't get lost in your inbox.
Well, good luck everyone! I hope we all get good news in July!! :)
I looked back to the Fall 2012 thread and they were able to post a picture of the list and it didn't get taken down (page 23 of the thread). Also it looks like the list was posted on or around July 11th which was a Wednesday last year. So that being said, we could possibly know our admission status within 2 weeks. Next week will fly by with the fourth of July, so we'll know in no time!!
Do any of you know if they send out letters to alternates too? I would hate to be that person on the alternate list having to wait longer without a definite answer. Or maybe when the list is posted you could call and ask if you are on the alternate list.
Geez I'm antsy! I know I'm one of those applicants on the cusp so it makes it worse.
The weather is going to be HOT HOT HOT these next several days so stay cool and drink lots of water. I'm looking forward to meeting all of you very soon! ::crosses fingers::
@Hopeful4it They don't send out letters to alternates...and if you are also an alternate, you're name will not be posted in the accepted list..what they do is they wait to see how many of the accepted people accept their spot in the nursing program (some people decline their acceptance because some get accepted to another nursing program at a different school). So depending on how many spots open up determines how many alternates will be accepted to the program. This is how they did it a year ago, not sure if they change the process. If you are an alternate, you will receive a call from the nursing office asking if you want to be in the program. So basically, if you don't get an acceptance letter or if your name isn't posted in the accepted list, you might still be an alternate.

Hi liuyingjun! Welcome. :) I am not sure about your question. I don't believe so, but who knows! It is a long wait. I'm just trying not to be nervous about the whole thing!
