CSUSB Fall 2013 Applicants

Published

Hi all! I'm a bit surprised I couldn't find a thread already started on this, so I finally decided to join AllNurses and start it myself :)

As many may have discovered by now, the prerequisites for CSU San Bernardino's nursing program have changed:

1. BIOL 220 (Microbiology)

2. BIOL 223 (Anatomy & Physiology I)

3. BIOL 224 (Anatomy & Physiology II)

4. CHEM 205 (Fundamentals of Chemistry: General Chemistry)

5. COMM 120 or Hon 104C 9Oral Communication)

6. CRITICAL THINKING

7. ENG 107, 104a, 104b, or 106 (Freshman Composition)

8. MATH 115 (Ideas of Math)

As such, I felt as if I couldn't look to previous average acceptance scores and GPAs to measure the probability I'll be accepted.

This thread is for anyone who has applied for Fall 2013 (let's share the anxiety of waiting for letters, lol), anyone who has questions about applying to CSUSB's BSN program in general, or anyone who has been accepted and would be so kind as to offer advice (please?).

Thanks in advance, and good luck to all!

@ am90 thank you so much that really helps. Im trying to find a job right now that is more flexible with hours just in case i do make it in this fall 2013. cause right now i work M-F 7:30am-12pm and i think it will interfere with nursing school.

@nj892 thank you for the advice..I think it definitely helps being calm for the test. I re-took it this past saturday so hopefully I brought my score up. I definitely felt confident. Cant wait to get my score :)

@k78frem your stats are awesome!!!

@am90: Thank you so much for answering my previous question!

@Jesses*girl: The scores from Saturday's TEAS exam should be up now :) I just submitted my new score to the nursing office -- 92.7. Not what I was hoping, but still a great improvement and jumped my points up to 39.

I also still have the potential to boost my GPA to 3.75 by July if I get A's this quarter (retaking two classes), so the max I can still get is 44. The waiting is hard, but the continuous good news is overwhelming and inspiring.

@k78frem: Echoing Jesses*girl here, but your info looks great! I go to the SRFC after class every MWF. It's so therapeutic to exercise after studying all day. Anyway, good luck!

@jasmic wow you did great on the teas! Good for you. I went up a little, but not as much as I wanted..so now I also stand with 39/50 points. Hope it's good enough.

@am90 I know you applied for fall 2012 did u just apply for San bernardino campus or also to palm desert? I'm so nervous I have 39/50'points I really need to get in. I think they said palm desert fall 2012 average was 3.5 and 80% on teas. So they take more students in during fall? Cause of both campuses

@Jesses*girl thanks! im just eager to find out already

@jasmic thanks, and yess it is, it relieves a lot of stress and takes school off your mind

@Jesse*girl No problem! Glad I could help :) good luck with everything & I hope you find a job with more of a flexible schedule :)

I only applied for the San Bernardino campus but with your stats, I think you have a very good chance in getting in either campus though.

@am90 you don't even know how happy I am to hear that! :smug: by any chance do you know what were the stats of fall 2012 like the average amount of points or the minimum points that got in the program?

Im not sure about the points :/ but they told us the average gpa that got admitted which was around 3.82 and teas scores of around 84-85. Fall is usually more competitive than winter, so if you don't get accepted for fall, definitely try for winter. Some of my friends who didn't get into fall got into winter. Usually winter stats are lower with gpa of around 3.6 and teas scores of 79-80.

@ am90, Hi I was wondering if you could give me any info. on the days from when you were admitted to your actual first day... such as registering for classes, going to an orientation, or any other events that are required or you're advised to go to? I am trying to plan a trip during my birthday weekend in late august (specifically on Saturday, Aug 31), but I don't want to pay for a hotel, and make arrangements if there's a big chance I may not be able to go (if I get accepted and have other priorities!) Do you happen to remember if scheduled events like the ones I listed are during the work week or weekend? and around what date/time? Anything you say could help! Please get back to me when you have the time! Thanks!!!

Hi am90, I just looked at the academic calender... it says the campus is closed from the beginning of that weekend, until Tuesday. http://academicprograms.csusb.edu/documents/AY2013-2014.pdf I'm guessing if the campus is closed, no orientations or activities would be held, right? Anyway, if you could still think of any information you have, please let me know! :) Thank you!
