Hi all,
I wanted to start a post on the CSUN ABSN 2020 cohort. Feel free to add any comments or questions regarding the application process. Let’s help each other out! Looking forward to getting to know you all.
Best of luck!!
hi everyone,
I called today around 11AM and I spoke with a girl (didn't get her name). She said that they will send out decisions within the next 3 weeks and she said definitely before December. I am getting frustrated with how late they will be sending out decisions. One month is not enough time to relocate, get vaccines, documents, etc.
Has anybody spoken with students from the previous cohorts? Is the quality of the program good? If the admission decision process is this late and disorganized, it makes me wonder if the actual program is like this too.
I also think the admission process is very disorganized and unprofessional. It's sad that they pushed it back so far. I understand that there are limited seats, but that's almost every other nursing program in California. I'm sure other schools get 300+ applications as well.
I've decided that it would not be practical for me to go to this school if I was even considered. More so on the fact that I would have to relocate, quit my job, and I don't even know how financial aid would go. At this point, I would like to just get a denial confirmation and move on.
I can empathize with those of you who would have to re locate. However, in my opinion, nursing programs, especially ABSN programs are so competitive to get in to, you should be so lucky to be admitted, and if this is really what you want, nothing should stop you, especially not a late announcement, or a relocation. I honestly think its a little entitled to be complaining so much. How lucky are we to be in the position to apply let alone get into such a tough program- late announcement or not!
I apologize if my post may have offended or upset anyone. I had no means to criticize anyone who gets accepted into CSUN. I am speaking on my own personal conflicts that it would not work out. I realized how impractical the situation would be for me, personally. Let alone that I don't have financial support relocating is a big factor. Everyone's nursing journey is different and requires different sacrifices. Mine would be accepting that there are other schools out there that I can apply to without solely prioritizing this one.
Oh I wasn't responding to you at all! I agree! You have to think logically, Im sure its disappointing to realize that after spending the time to apply! I just mean in general, theres a lot of complaining about the process. I get we all have lives, but I will do anything to get into a program and I have set up my life as such that whatever I need to do to start I will do it!
I would be so grateful to be accepted, however, I just want to make sure the program that I attend will be of high quality! The process is a bit frustrating, but nonetheless, would be delighted for an acceptance. I was only expressing my frustrations, hopefully nobody took it the wrong way ? I have applied to a few other schools and have heard back, CSUN is the last one on my list. Good luck to everyone!
1 hour ago, FUTURENURSEVIBE said:Yes, thank you to everyone that has been providing updates. I don't think the response is coming this week or next week. Now , they are informing us that they are hoping to send it by thanksgiving. At least we know that we aren't the only people waiting for a response.
Is this a new update ?

Her position wasn't included in the email. I also asked why is the process taking longer this year, but she didn't respond to that email.
